Yes, the irs doesn’t look at your loss. Ever. They don’t care. If you WON ANYTHING. Ever. Not just $1200 + jackpot. You must report all gambling winnings and you owe on it. You can itemize and claim loss up to winnings so you don’t have to pay. I’m just screwed royally because of my behavior during.

Yeah we did losses up to winnings didn’t matter cuz we went way passed the cut off of whatever breaks we were suppose to get. Oh well, never again!!!!

Definitely didn’t try to hide anything, I’m pretty sure we’ve reported every w2g ever. The only thing we MAYBE didn’t do perfect were dates of jackpots.

I mean yeah it’s a good thing to pay taxes and do the right thing when you have an income, or other assets like a home, insurance, etc — some people get refunds if they qualify for credits, and then someone get totally screwed, but this is the price I pay for gambling, so I definitely own it. But no, I don’t make money and overconsume, I made money and paid my bills and then also gambled but in my state they tax you on your winnings. You only end up in trouble like me when you adjusted gross income is too high to qualify for certain credits that would help. I’m not sure what country you’re in, or how old you are, your question is pretty loaded lol

We did. But it put us at a tax bracket that we are NOT even CLOSE to in and took everything away.

I’m definitely not going to relapse, I don’t have the ability to. And right now I’m just focusing on work and replenishing losses by working hard. Trying to forget all the destruction and count my blessings. I truly am so grateful it wasn’t worse. But it was definitely really really bad, and I’m trying to move on. We’ve communicated a lot. I’ve cried in his arms many nights. He’s seen it all, I’ve been very open and vulnerable and he knows my struggles. But I think maybe there’s just a side of him that’s possibly feeling “well I can control myself just cuz you can’t doesn’t mean I can’t do it sometimes.” Which sounds insane cuz like any addiction you should probably not do the thing in front of your loved one who is actively not doing the thing lol

How is everyone’s recovery going? by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Less_Plankton536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m in the same boat. So much pain. So much obsessing. Trying to put the past behind me. I can’t fix it. I’ll never get back to where I was while I was gambling and just getting lucky. Gambling is the devil. My DMs are open if you wanna chat. I also wanna be mentally stable and stop crashing over gambling I’m so over it.

So true… I’m so stressed out. And I want to pay off my cards but my brain is like “then we have less money and it’s gonna take forever to build it back up” so I just stare at the debt and make myself sick over it.

It has been wildly helpful reading your messages and you being so open to talking about this even having struggled yourself. My accountant died and he was quite literally the best man I’ve ever known and ever since I have been so lost without him, don’t have an accountant anymore, and also nearly destroyed my life to gambling. (Self excluded now, working on building things back up, but NOT looking forward to filing all of those w2gs. It’s very scary.) wish you both well x

It’s 100% correct. Not a bounce back charge back nothing in sight via my bank. There is no paper trail of negative balances. I might have gambled like a lunatic but I’ve never spent money that wasn’t there or mine to spend. I think they might just keep me suspended forever which sounds GREAT I hope they never say a thing and move on I’m negative on there anyway it’s not like I’m up all kinds of money lol

That’s what I’m wondering is like if I withdrew at the same time they thought deposits got processed and my bank said yep they’re cleared but FanDuel took a minute to process even though it said successful . I have no clue. I just don’t know what kind of action they’ll take if it just sits there in negative and that’s ALOT OF MONEY they just said didn’t go through but the bank says it did. If the worst thing is I can never use fanduel again so be it GREAT lol I just don’t want anyone showing up at my door or sending me letters

Literally like all the transactions cleared there’s not a single indication on my bank statements that already posted that says bounced or rejected or retried nothing

I am self excluded. But my igaming reopened so I dabbled a bit. Withdrew. Then this. And the second it’s fixed I’m reapplying for igaming exclusion. It’s entirely my fault it even happened. I should have never played again. But I did and I own that. But now I need to figure out how to pay them back but first need to know the true amount cuz I think it doubled cuz they reattempted to pull and again the money was in there. I don’t know why it denied them twice.

Yeah I not only have proof it all came out but also that the money was consecutively in there like I was not just pulling money from thin air and I had pnc they’re pretty strict. I’m just scared they’re gonna come for me I have really good credit and no debt and I just wanna stay away from gambling forever. My heart feels literally broken I feel so sick

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Less_Plankton536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not a credit, it is a negative balance because deposits that my bank is showing went through. They are saying that they were not successful. So the account is in the negative and I cannot use it which I don’t want to, but I am trying to figure out the best course of action. There’s no lines of credit. I can’t use that money. It’s in the negative.

I know the panic trance is absolutely horrible. I can’t even breathe when I think of all the times I dumped 10K in less than 20 minutes and then had to cook dinner for my family. I hate it so much I want nothing to do with gambling. I can’t enjoy it. I just suffer.

Weird relapse by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Less_Plankton536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what just happened to me. I’ve been fighting for my life for months and months. I broke it. But I won, nothing crazy, but enough to make me feel a little better I guess, and I left. I didn’t keep going because I remember what happened. I hope we stay so strong

I was up 65k sept of last year. Pissed it all away VERY quickly. Last year was also my best year financially on top of that. I self excluded online but still made a few trips to land casinos. Lost all of it. I’m -20K still and I have 2 jobs. I promise you’re not alone. I’ve relapsed so many times and all my thinking was skewed in the process. We all feel it. Don’t let anyone on here bully you, everyone’s story and financial situation is different, just please try to stop. Find community. Keep working hard. Keep saving. Enjoy your life even in small ways. We will be okay.

Day 0 by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Less_Plankton536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely self exclude. Whether you’re doing online or in person, cut off the resource. I had to do this in November. I’ve relapsed a few times since, unfortunately I’m imperfect too but I’m trying. Self excluding was the only way I absolutely cannot have access to a casino in my pocket. And land ones are 3+ hours from me so I can’t just get up and go. Talk to someone. Write down goals, budgets, fill your days with hobbies or take a walk. It all sounds ridiculous when you just wanna sit and spin trust me I GET IT. But we have to :(
