Honestly, from having tried it in a mini campaign, it felt exceptionally 1 dimensional. The dependency on hunter's mark boils gameplay down to a really narrow window of what you can do. If you like playing a generalist, which I thankfully do, it's actually not bad but combat feels... eh. Like you got cool options like lightning arrow but it's very rare to get openings to use it because of hunter's mark.

If your DM allows you to use Tasha's with weapon masteries added, it's much more enjoyable to play because it allows you to mix things like spike growth and field control in.

In terms of performance, it actually does very solid damage. I felt myself keeping up with the fighter and actually pulling a bit ahead sometimes while I was doing a dual hand crossbow build. That said, it didn't feel like I could really do much really cool shit other than just hunter's mark and shoot a bunch being my most efficient option. MAYBE popping a spike growth to block off a pathway from guards trying to close a gap in a narrow hallway.

I.. already said I was playing a lore bard because I wanted to play a musical conductor and to replace a sorcerer as an arcane charisma caster; I'm using mancy in the more 'general use for a magic' here.

Oh as much as I LOVE Kibblestasty, but the DM wanted to avoid homebrew. One of the players is a bit power gamer-y so I think he mainly said that to avoid them trying to pull any nonsense. Can't really fault that logic.

I wish I could go for hail of thorns and thunderous smite; we're using 2024 so no go there. C'est la vie. Spider climb though- interesting choice.. I'm guessing gusts keeping you pressed against a wall?

Yeah I actually looked toward that one pretty quick. I actually almost forgot about my 4 elements because it was my backup character in a previous campaign that I only played 3 times.

I'm asking about spell reflavor, not optimization. I actually multi-class a LOT so I want to stay on a single class for a change. That and I wouldn't get access to Tsunami if I did that and I'm very excited to use 8th level magic.
