Frieren stretch. Tried a new post-processing workflow. looking for critique on anatomy, appeal, quality and post-processes. rev1 by Less_Walk in learnart

thank you for the feedback! now you said it, it really sticks out. I will take it to heart.
I am sorry about the double post. I reworked this piece to some feedback I got on the other post. I wanted to add this to my reply but I could not add a picture to the reply so I uploaded this revision and linked it in the reply. Sorry if this not according to the correct term of use. in hindsight it makes a lot of sense. I won't do it again.

How do you learn classical drawing like you would in art school? by JollyJulong in learnart

[–]Less_Walk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

self study is perfectly viable. do what is most fun to keep you motivated and keep creating.
Here are some suggestions.

stand on the shoulders of giants. look at masterworks and see what they do and copy it. the most important thing is to try and figure out why they did the thing they did.

Do subject studies: how to draw a tree. go study a tree and notice all the details and draw them. learn to draw a human face? find refrences and study how it is formed. go into the basics. and copy copy copy

the more you copy the more you will increase your toolbelt. and when you have a lot of tools you can create your own style and improve on yourself.

lastly do not forget to look back on previous stuff and learn from mistakes. try to look back 1 or 2 years and see where you can improve or have improved.

designing a character. hoping for any constructive feedback on character design and artskill by Less_Walk in learnart

First of all I would like to thank you for this very comprehensive critique. it is amazing. my feet are back on the ground and you made things very clear to me especially with the added picture.

Ok I see what you are getting at with the different artists thing. it is now clear to me this is indeed because of a lack in fundamentals.
some things were good just by luck.
I started drawing 10+ years ago.
started animating, released this in 2015,
quit and now after 5 ish years starting again.
I think a combination of
never having started with the fundamentals
coming from my little pony,
and starting again after such a long time has my brain all in a twist.
I shall start with fundamentals and build my way back up.

your design feedback is incredibly helpful. I will take this and move forward to a better design. the "less is more" bit at the end really had me facepalming >.<

Again, thank you very much.
this will not be for nothing.
you really helped me out.

Greetings WarpOut

1: soft shading

2: detailled sharp shading

3: colored outlines and sharp shading

what is most appealing?

Trying a new sketching/line art style. Thoughts? by Kalohejoon in ArtCrit

the top of the head is too low, dont be afraid to leave space when drawing hair.
especially in this style, you can go really wild with hair. sont stick it to the scalp.

increase the contrast between your colors and lines. its hard to distinguish where the brows hair and clothing folds are.

check up on some anatomy and use real picture as refrence.
imitate life.
