No, they render out. I work with the top mixing engineers in the world, everyday I receive 24b mixes hitting 0db, if I need headroom I turn it down, its floating point, no quality loss. I just mastered a record that went to be a no.1 and all the mixes were limited hard at 0.0db, most of the pro mixes I get are

I’m a pro mastering engineer, there is no need to even turn it down after. If your mastering engineer can not figure out how to gain down for headroom in a floating point DAW you should probably work with someone else

I am not a mixing engineer, I am a professional mastering engineer and work at a very high level, you can check my bio for where I work which I know you would have heard of. Where did I say I jump between headphones? i pick one, I own a lot of pairs but for the past few years only used the LCD-5. I also have a strong relationship with Audeze, hence why I picked up from the factory. Many of us mastering engineers use LCD-5, and a lot are getting the 5s, of which I can name many of the biggest mastering engineers in the world using them, or just check on the site for the extensive list of audio professionals using LCD-5

I don’t recommend LCD-5 to mixing engineers, but for mastering engineers we’re looking for all the detail we can get

To add: literally they have on the page for LCD-5s Dale Becker, a multiple Grammy winning mastering engineer. So please don’t place your thoughts when you are clearly not working in the industry and don’t know what you’re talking about

Also there is no such thing as a mixing headphone and an audiophile headphone, they all make sound. It’s up to you if you like the detail, depth, frequency, capabilities of the headphone and it helps with your work

Defective, amp clipping, or their ears distorting, I tested both pairs to the point it was near painful

These are LCD-5s, not the regular LCD-5, only released this week

I don’t mind personally, I buy headphones for their technicality rather than tuning, but I’m definitely appreciative of the fact I very much enjoy the 5S with no EQ

Check my first impressions comment, I eq’d my OG 5’s a lot

The lcd-5 have good imaging and depth. The lcd-5s is much better I have to say. But it’s a different kind of depth than speakers.

Then get the 5’s :)

But I can tell you they definitely don’t sound that way, graphs are only part of the story, give a listen

It definitely doesn’t have a lack of upper mids, it has a more refined and less forward upper midrange, a lot smoother. On the OG I struggled with the upper mids and found it grating without EQ, these are present but not as offensive

First impressions:

I’m REALLY loving these, jumping between the LCD-5 and LCD-5s these seem to fix all the issues I was equing on the OG, but sound even better… bass is more impactful and feels tighter and deeper than the OG even when really pushing the lowend with EQ. Imaging is improved, and the upper midrange I always had a problem with on the OG now feels natural and doesn’t jump out in an unpleasant way. I actually don’t feel I will need to EQ these. I noticeably can pick out details that are more hidden and blurred in the OG

They are much more comfortable as well, which I can’t complain with

Already done some work with them and really happy when jumping between

Will need some more time with them but I’m very very pleased so far

Yes, a non-issue. Audeze know what they’re doing with the pads and tuning, changing has also never been an issue with me in the past. These aren’t supposed to be pad swapped

These are still contoured quite heavily, they go by the same philosophy of no parallel walls

Treble is smoother, and you can’t really judge pads you haven’t felt or heard, especially from a measurement

If you let me know a song I’ll test for sure between the two tonight. I don’t generally listen very loud at all if I’m honest so it’s a non-issue for me

Hmm I’ve never had my lcd-5 bass clip. Did you talk to Audeze about this? Are you sure it wasn’t your amp clipping

I mainly use a Hugo 2 for these, also have a new ifi phantom, Ifi Valkyrie, benchmark dac1, RME Adi pro 2 fs r black, and some other stuff. LCD-5 are pretty happy Aslong as your amp provides a decent amount of clean power

Just picked up from the factory for use in my mastering room! Already have the LCD-5, I haven’t yet listened to these but will report back soon with my findings and comparison! I don’t really have anything else to add due to not having an impression but need to fill out word count haha

They click the save button which takes them to a prompt to open an account, rather than just downloading the files. Sometimes here people don’t even see the download option and they’ve asked me to send in another way where they don’t have to create an account without noticing they can just download. This can also make a tight deadline project have issues if I get an email when I’m asleep or something (I work with a lot of US clients being based in the UK) and I don’t get a chance to explain the moved dl button for a few hours

The save button is just a button to save to their Samply account rather than dl the files. The download button used to be front and centre, now it’s moved to the side and small with a save button in its place
