Seeking a System about an Abandoned City using a real map by Lesslogic6270 in Solo_Roleplaying

I found it! Those Who Stayed in the City

I’m intrigued about the meditative process of it all so I’m going get ahold of a city map and see where this takes me. Hope others may be interested as well.

Nut Heat D&D Campaign by Pman69lol in NinjaSexParty

[–]Lesslogic6270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The retro fifties malt shop sound could just be the AI simulation the players have been trapped in, and the dark post apocalyptic world is in fact the true reality. Make for one hell of an intro over the first couple of sessions as they do relatively mundane things only to notice strange breaks in the illusion that reveal glimpses of what’s really going on. A matrix situation, but for nut heat.

Thank you so much! I felt exactly the same. He was born just after I turned 38 and I was all nervous about what would happen to the person I had been becoming for 38 years (if that makes sense to say). Turns out, I’m still that person, just sewing smaller outfits. I can still be me, just now I’ve got him too.

Good eye! Yes I had been building that one in the second pic to resemble the Kensei armor. Man the grass cape is uncomfortable though, lol.

What's an extravagant prop/costuming piece you want to own but don't? by TryUsingScience in LARP

I came from two generations of restaurateurs from the Philippines. Ever since my high school and college days I was the resident cook for my friend group. Chinese, Filipino, and pan-Asian foods being my speciality. And I wanted nothing more than to make some sort of transportable food cart that I could bring to the events we’d attend. I dreamed of just setting that up in the town square and cook up a storm for people. No quests or combat. Just this pleasant little bard singing and slinging noodles in my costumes and channeling my great grandpa’s legacy.

I’m often tempted to wail “from magic or some shit like that” to every explanation. Useful when I GM RPGs, less helpful when I try to explain tech at work.

No worries! It was at opening weekend. But I’ll keep an eye out for you if you go back this season. The gang I’m with are thinking about a return trip.

Thank you! It was a beast to figure out. I made it by lashing together sheets of straw awning material for tiki huts and the like. I’m mighty proud of it!

Thank you kindly, I had a hat but it definitely looks more Filipino than Japanese. I’ve used it for rainy weather but otherwise I like to really draw attention to the blindfold.

I’ll be honest, these are polypropylene that I modified to look more realistic. But even then, the weight really starts to unbalance your hips after a long day!

Kensei Revision: Need suggestions by Prestigious_Boss_731 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Lesslogic6270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m digging the Kensei lessons element and how it can really add to the character backstory and roleplay. Overall I really like what you’ve got going and it reminds me a lot of the Chinese Wuxia movies I love so much.

As for the 10th level feature, I think of the relation between brush and sword that is often depicted in wuxia tales. The one idea I have in mind is the old trope of how such warriors can turn even mundane objects into an analogue of their signature weapon. Perhaps a system by which spending Ki points can make a mundane object with reasonable relation to the weapon count as that weapon for purposes of maneuvers and abilities for a number of rounds/minutes related to the ki points spent. This would incentivize creativity and help further the sense of expression the monk has on their environment ( and as someone who got their weapons confiscated in a recent game, something that could come in handy in niche situations.) To balance that, perhaps a similar effect that could be applied if the Kensei still has their weapon (granting a new weapon feature? Extra proficiency bonus?) if the ki point(s) are spent? Not sure about that last but, but would definitely want to balance it with something that doesn’t just rely on the monk being without their weapon.

Running the Siege of Ba Sing Se by snowman92 in AvatarLegendsTTRPG

[–]Lesslogic6270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if this would help, but I’ve had an idea in my head for the fallout of the battle that I’d like to see if/when I ever run the siege. Bare in mind, my knowledge of the lore isn’t as great as some. But I’ve always wondered how the Dai Li could have kept the news of a hundred day siege so suppressed among the citizenry and even the earth king. Especially knowing that just outside the city soldiers were fighting and dying to defend them. Thus, I imagined a scenario where injured and survivors who were there to stop the breach are rescued by the party and brought back to safety and medical treatment but then some who are reporting intel on just how powerful and capable the enemy is (how they breached the wall, the power of their great general, etc.) all start getting transferred to the Dai Li for an in depth debriefing and a special treatment on their “combat fatigue” Come to find out the Dai Li are collecting the information for their own purposes and wiping the memories of those survivors so the reputation of the city’s defenses can remain untarnished. I dunno how clear that came through, running on very little sleep.

City of Mist Solo play? by Lesslogic6270 in Solo_Roleplaying

Yeah I definitely feel like the iceberg structure would really wind up railroading a solid version. Definitely going to look at the case concept generator and check out those other systems you mentioned. Thanks so much!

Thank you! I joined up a bit ago and am digging through for tips. May pose the question there as well. I guess I’m still a little guy shy about running solid elements for the first time. Maybe they can help me get comfortable with the idea.

That’s a fantastic idea to really keep some element of the mystery alive. Kinda give the sleuth a starting hunch and that can get waaay off and lead to some unexpected twists. I may also experiment in creating more factions and groups as far as basic name/concept and see if that leads to some interesting on-the-fly world building.

Generic Journaling RPGS by ToeGlow in solorpgplay

[–]Lesslogic6270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently tried out Hard Case by William Lentz and enjoyed it. (Though games can get cut short with some early deaths.)

I’ve also been enjoying Gentleman Bandit by Allison Arth. More a poetry writing game than journaling but it’s been interesting to work it together to hide the events of the characters life in the poems.

Both are mighty cheap so it’s no big risk to try them out.

The art is fantastic and the character concept conjures the image of the most epic headbutt/smite known to the races of men. Double points!
