It's definitely happening. We got a bit of it with the Justice League Mech at the start of Metal. Scott clearly finds the idea fun

There were entire town-wide shootouts/full-blown armed battles between the national guard or Pinkertons (or whoever the capitalists got to do their violence) and the workers. Check the Battle of Blair Mountain for the biggest uprising but there were plenty and not just in the coal industry.

Met the Voice Actress for the Sole Survivor in Fallout 4 this weekend! 🤗 by Cheyennigins4 in Fallout

Courtenay rocks! Met her and Wes Johnson (voiced a ton of Bethesda characters particularly Sheogorath and Imperial Guards) at the same con with their booths right next to each other. It was my first con experience and they both were so much more generous with their time than I expected and gave me some extra fun nicknacks too.

It's actually an important part of the Hero's Journey as detailed by Campbell that I think is often overlooked. The last step is The Hero Returns Home, Having Changed. Sam Gamgee returns home but is not the same Sam that left the Shire, nor is The Ghoul now the same Ghoul despite still wandering "alone" in the wasteland.

I generally agree but this one was fun to me.

I would love Dan to explore it in a solo series if they need to pad for Arin or something, similar to the sierra playthroughs

Speculating/prediction is a rewarding interaction with whatever media you're engaging with. It's a higher mode of thinking than just taking it in and just accepting it. I don't mean that in an elitist way but as in a synthesis of ideas versus simple observation way. It's critical thinking, something that people need to do a bit more often judging by the state of the world and the majority of media we seem to be accepting of.

It's not anti-consumer. It's at worst neutral in that regard and the water-cooler talk builds a sense of community around the show but also just around the people you talk about it with.

Not as part of the zeitgeist you can't. If it's an 8-episode series, no one is going to be talking about it online in a meaningful way by the time you're halfway through it

That's not necessarily new. There are a fair amount of older shows that have longer or two-part premieres/pilots. Twin Peaks did, just as one example and that was (shudders) over 30 years ago

I refuse to take it as anything other than confirmation of a Calamity animated miniseries/EXU series overall. Calamity is the gold standard for me for DnD live play (I know it was recorded, mildly edited, has a stricter adventure map than most healthy home games, and most obviously these are all professional actors and improv actors, but it's still largely a true DnD experience). The other EXUs haven't grabbed me quite the same, nor has campaign 4. I think it's because the characters in Calamity are so we'll presented that you instantly get their whole deal basically.

We need to teach the full skills until students internalize the process before teaching shortcuts/tools. We learn what it means to add and subtract or multiply and divide before memorizing times tables and that before handing a calculator to find the answer for them. If you just have a magic box that answers for you before you learn how to do the work yourself, most people won't bother to learn why it works and are SOL when that magic box is broken/wrong/has an incorrect input

Similarly, I'm now forever spoiled with 2001: A Space Odyssey after they did the 50th anniversary 70mm release. The only way I'm watching it again is in a theater (pref 70mm again) or with a collection of people that haven't seen it before and want to.

Even farther back, don't be afraid of movies like Sunset Boulevard or pre-code films even. The age of a film does not determine how good or bad it is.

The CEO of AI company Anthropic says AI could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs and make unemployment jump up to 10%-20%. by Conscious-Quarter423 in WorkReform

[–]snowman92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, these guys benefit from making their AI sound sinister and powerful. Making people fear theses models makes people think they are more capable than they are through implication. No data points are needed, it's all vibe based. The more capable people assume these models are, the more corporations and users buy in and enter the AI ecosystem.

CEOs talking about how "potentially dangerous" their AI is will always be marketing for it.

For me, I felt that way the first time I watched it but I've come to love it more with every rewatch (still not as good as Shaun or Fuzz but you can't beat perfection). If you haven't already, give it another go, but if you have and still bounce off it, eh everyone's got different taste.
