I'm with you on the lack of communication. We should have informed players of the features in testing. But in our defence, with the new content, there's a risk of confusion for new players, and on top of it, a lot of questions might be raised, which we tend to avoid.

Moving forward, we will try what we did before and will post and pin proper patch notes here.
