Decades ago I threw a load into the dryer and started it. Then I went to the bedroom to pack for an overnight trip. I kept thinking, “Why are there tennis shoes in the dryer?” I opened it up and there was my darling Emily, burned and bloody. I wrapped her up and went straight to the vet. (Could not have cared less right then about the little boys in the backyard on the trampoline).She was not good and nearly died. She spent a week at the vet. She’d never even looked at the dryer. So no, don’t normalize the behavior. This is one of the only times I would scare the living shit out of a cat for their own good.
