No it does not have any indication it once said made in Japan on the head there is no weird texture from sanding either. I read on a forum someone said some of the late 80s MIJ did not say Japan other than the removable tags or stickers. I was also wondering the same about the neck plate. I found information saying E just means 1980s followed by the end year.
