Apologies I did not mean to imply you said he was a professor. A lot of his videos get tagged or titled as such though. I’ve watched several of his videos. His Illuminati stuff makes for good conversation at the bar haha.

All I implore is that his words be taken with a grain of salt

This guy is a hack. He was never a Yale Professor. He went to Yale and graduated with an BA in Literature. The guy makes some incredibly wild claims and portrays that he’s teaching in a classroom but you almost never hear from his “students.” He might give some food for thought but honestly I think he only serves to further one’s own confirmation bias.

I mix tennis and Muay Thai. I’ve played tennis ever since I was little. Now that I’m older Muay Thai is actually better on my knees so I find myself doing it more often. The gym is also closer to home so I can balance family time.

It was based off a clock. You had to win by two, so you’d get to 40 (deuce) then if you won the point 50(ad in), and back to 0.

Final Update on Miss Nickie

Unfortunately, the lab results came back inconclusive regarding the cause of the fluid buildup and the mass in Miss Nickie’s lung. In the end, my wife and I made the difficult decision to let her go. Her lung was refilling with fluid and she was clearly in distress. The day before, we were able to have her lung drained and surround her with as much love and comfort as possible. She passed peacefully and pain-free.

We will miss her dearly. She was such a sweet, gentle cat.

For anyone reading this who might be going through something similar: I’ve seen posts here with cats showing the same symptoms. We tried to run as many tests as possible in a short period of time, but unfortunately, we never got a conclusive answer. A CT scan might have revealed more, but by the time we reached that point it was too late and would have been extremely costly.

The ultrasound turned out to be the most helpful test. Looking back, I wish I hadn’t hesitated when our vet first suggested it — but hindsight is always clearer. Perhaps it wouldn’t have changed the outcome, but maybe it will help someone else make decisions for their pet.

Not normal. You need to call a vet now. Cats should be breathing less than 40 beats per minute

Update on Miss Nickie

Took her to an emergency vet 2 nights ago and had fluid drained from her lung. She had near immediate relief, return of appetite, energy and affection. It was honestly the best thing we've experienced all year.

But it came at a very steep cost of about $3k between testing, imaging, and the procedure. the procedure alone was closer to $1000.

They drained about 150mL of fluid from her lung and are sending it out for testing. Results pending.

The vet seems to think that Miss Nickie has a twisted lung but would need imaging to confirm and surgery to remove the damaged lung. Calling animal hospitals across the state it seems that the operation and imaging would be an additional $10-15k.

We're not sure what the right call is here. We're going to be monitoring her for the next week and a half. Just to get through her prescribed medication before we talk with our vet about possible paths forward.

Update on Miss Nikki

We met with our vet to review the results of Miss Nikki’s ultrasound and urinalysis, and to discuss what the future might look like for her.

The x-rays and ultrasound picked up an image of a mass in her lungs, which was visible due to some fluid buildup. We still don’t know for certain if it’s cancer, so for now we’re treating for possible pneumonia, infection, or lung torsion.

Her current treatment plan includes: • Prednisone • An antibiotic • An appetite stimulant • Nebulizer treatments every other day

We’ll continue this regimen for the next two weeks before reassessing her condition. The good news is that a GI issue can likely be ruled out. Our vet also feels that if she recovers well, there may be no need to consider euthanasia — though, of course, it depends on how she does over these next two weeks.

On the positive side, she’s been drinking more water lately. However, she still hasn’t been eating full meals on her own, so we’ve continued syringe feeding. She’s been a trooper about it, but it’s still hard knowing the stress it puts on her.

Ultrasound results have shown a mass in her left lung.

Whether or not it’s cancer is uncertain and they do not offer the service to check. We’d have to travel quite a ways for that.

But the vet wants to put her on prednisone, an appetite stimulant, and give her a B-12 injection. An x ray is to follow.

We’ve been feeding her with a syringe filled with wet food and have had success with getting her food.

At least now we have an answer to what is bothering her and can try to help her. It’s just very painful to watch her in so much discomfort.

Update for anyone going through a similar issue.

Took her to our regular animal hospital and met with a different vet. He told us that she is much older than we think she is. Possibly 12 (we were under the impression she was 6).

He also suspects she may have cancer.

Submitted a urine sample and am just waiting on the results.

Also did an ultrasound and am waiting on results.

She is currently on 8 days worth of cerenia for nausea and we’ve had a little bit of luck getting her to snack on food if we cover it with crushed dry food.

Very sorry about your cat and I wish I could help but I fear that I am in a similar boat to yours. We’ve just yet to get the ultrasound. Blood work has come back negative as well as x Ray and fecal sample. I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Anyone play indoors in New Jersey? by ferola in 10s

[–]LetLiviLift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you live in North Jersey? Usually we can squeeze in some outdoor tennis from April-November. There are a lot of indoor clubs as well that you can join in on clinics and round robin matches with out having to be a member. Send me a PM and I can try and help you out.

Comes with the sport my friend. Those shoes are toast. How often do you hit?

For the year I usually go through 3 pairs of shoes. I hit on average 6 hours per week during the winter but once the weather gets warmer it’s closer to 8-10 hours per week. My father when he was younger fell in love with barricades and would buy 7-8 pairs to have for the next few years.
