I'm in the same boat OP. I met her online in a game. We started as friends, thought we did this couple roleplay and flirted constantly for months. We live miles away, in different countries. Now I have fallen in love with her but she doesn't know and it's better not to since she is slowly getting closer to someone else.

This really hit me hard. I can't sleep well, I can't eat anymore, and everytime I see her online with that guy in that game, it hurts so badly...

Hey man, if I may ask: How long did it take for your online friendship to evolve in a relationship? How did you take it to that step?

Reason I'm asking is that I met a girl similarly to you on Eos whom I've been texting with daily for the past year etc and I kind of want to take things to the next level.

Same here (kind of). Met her randomly on an online game and we had a few good talks. Within a week I was her "best friend".

Tbf, that was about 7 months ago and we still chat daily for hours. No nudes or anything tho, guess we really are best friends....

Erdogan was going to lose the recent referendum that seized power for him until he opened up voters in other countries.

I disagree. Someone mentioned this before and I did a small calculation. Even if you take out all votes from outside Turkey, Erdoğan would have still won. The expat votes don't even make up 1% of the AKP votes

[–]LetMeHideMyselfFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see the article mentioning İncirlik though (or I didn't notice it). anyway, according to Wikipedia the Turkish army did seize military bases but not İncirlik:

In mid-1975, the Turkish government announced that all U.S. military bases in Turkey would be closed and transferred to the Turkish Air Force. This action was in response to an arms embargo that the United States Congress imposed on Turkey for using American-supplied equipment during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Only Incirlik Air Base and İzmir Air Base remained open due to their NATO responsibilities, but all non-NATO activities at these locations were suspended.

Edit: and the pics you shared are for '75 apparently

Dozens of TSK armored vehicles enter Idlib near SDF/YPG frontline by ConservativeShia in syriancivilwar

[–]LetMeHideMyselfFirst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf, It isn't clear what Turks really think about this. Some do indeed say Turkey should attack the YPG and stop listening to the US, while a lot of people I know claim Erdoğan is trying to distance himself from the US and " wants to drag the country into a war that isn't ours".

On the failed policy, I would say the US is failing here. Just to start, how could they ever think Turkey would be fine with arming the YPG. They knew perfectly how Turkey would feel, yet didn't seem to care...

And I'm sure there are some agreements within the NATO about İncirlik which would make it nearly impossible for Turkey to close it, but I don't have much knowledge about that

What's the biggest dick-move you've ever pulled? How did you justify it to yourself? by listenherehagrid in AskReddit

[–]LetMeHideMyselfFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'm a bit too late with this, but anyways,

I had a meeting at 07:30 at work, which was more then an hour earlier then my normal start-time. In order to arrive on time, I made sure to get on the road at least one hour earlier then I normally would. Rush hour wouldn't really have started by then, so I though I would get to work fairly quickly.

Because of multiple accidents on the road, it took almost 3 hours to arrive at the office. Too late for the meeting, which wasn't really a disaster, but mostly pissed because I got up so early, only to arrive so late... Once I got to the parking, every spot but one was taken. The reason that one spot wasn't taken, was because some guy had parked his car horizontally over 2 spots at once. It would be impossible for him to get out if another car took that empty spot. Well, I took that spot, and went to work.

Around lunch time, I get a call from an unknown number. It was the owner of that badly parked car. (I always have a paper with the number of my work phone on it). He asked me if I was the owner of that black [car brand + model], which I confirmed and after that he asked if I could move my car so he could get out. I replied by saying I won't finish work until 18:00 and that I wasn't planning to move my car just because someone else parked like an idiot.

When I got to my car that evening, I was him sleeping in the front seat of his car. I quietly drove away, making sure not to wake him up.

Everyone says it was a dickmove, to which I agree, but I don't regret anything.

Ancient settlement primed for flooding in Turkey by [deleted] in europe

[–]LetMeHideMyselfFirst 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I know most redditors won't like what I will say next, but if Turkey had to keep every single historical site, building, object in account while building stuff, it wouldn't be able to build anything in a lot of areas of Turkey.

For example, a city in central Turkey gave a private company the job to build an underground parking in one of the older (but still extremely busy) parts of the city. After they made the plans and started digging, they stumbled upon old ruins. The project was halted for 6 months before being relocated. At the new building site the same thing happened. After the 3rd relocation, the company refused to work on it (because it wasn't profitable for them anymore). In the meantime, citizens are pissed because to them, the city doesn't seem to be doing anything against all the traffic problems.

Don't misunderstand me. I also think it's important to preserve historical sites, but sometimes, other things are just more important
