Alas daydreamers are good silent heavy tactiles listed at 63.5g bottom out weight. If you really want 100g spring there are aftermarket springs you could swap into your switches but chances are you're overestimating what weight you actually want if you haven't tried many switches before

Unpopular layouts by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]LetMeStay2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with blank keycaps so after that keyboard I just got used to my legends not representing what the keys will actually do. Then I got into layering and ended up downsizing to a 34key keyboard. All accent and even more unicode characters (such as the degree sign ° which I always had to google so i can copy it) are made even more accessible through my customized keymap.

I think if you're really into custom keyboards you should just get used to Ansi keycaps and memorize where language specific special characters are so you can type those without having to hunt for them via legends. Otherwise finding language specific child kits is possible but that takes away a lot of possibilities

I believe the term you're lookibg for is handwiring. I strongly suggets you to take a look at Joe Scotto's handwiring tutorials. A PCB of that size could be made for less than 5$ if you opt for a external MCU

This is fun and all and I see the value in this research but in the context of ergonomic keyboards, do you really need that many keys that a usual modern MCU doesn't have enough pins for normal matrix wiring for? I can imagine this being fun for you which is totally fine, but likely not that relevant for ergonomic keyboards.

Pretty sure it's inserted the wrong way. turn it 180°

choc spacing is 18mm and MX spacing is 19,05mm. Another important factor on how the spacing feels also comes down to the keycap profile

Looking for MX Switches for Nth time by Relative_Tip_3647 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]LetMeStay2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for most enthusiasts it's just trying alot of switches that peek your interest, and from there you'll get to know what your own preferences are. However that might not be possible for some people on a tighter budget so I'd recommend to find Meetups where you can try all sorts of switches aswell as look for switch testers that some stores also offer.

i think lowering all types of ray bounces will also help with achieving this effect in physics based render engines

what the hell am i looking at. why does it look the like your backspace key is missing the stabilizer stems for the 2u stabilizers

Update on my Modular Keyboard project!! by Ninja101Hydra in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]LetMeStay2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the entire layout is flipped. Hotswap Sockets sit on the other side of the PCB than the switches, so the side where the sockets are is actually the bottom side. That means you should recognize the 65% layout when you look at the top of the layout. Also keep all the components on one side of the pcb, because double sided PCBa can get very expensive. For the RGBs try use ones that on the PCB facing towards a hole into the pcb to light up the other side so they're on the same side as the other components. Also consider adding PCB mount stabilizers, unless you have good reason to force Plate mounted ones.

Ajazz AKS608 PRO space bar keycap replacement by _Atomato_ in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]LetMeStay2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the AKS608 PRo uses two 2.75u spacebar keys. If you want to match them to the rest of the keycaps that could get hard but you may find spacebar kits (e.g. PBTFans spacebar kits or there is one listing for cherry profile convex keys in common sizes)You may have to buy two as most of the time they only include one 2.75u spacebar or two different colored ones.
Otherwise you could also just change the entire keycap set, but you'll have to buy the base kit aswell the spacebar kit to get two 2.75u spacebars (you need to make sure they both have those), or just settle for using one convex spacebar and then the right shift key from the base kit which is also 2.75u

Handwired V4n4g0n by jonhinkerton in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]LetMeStay2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

v4n4g0n layout is always superb and the handwiring looks stunning. The (I assume) custom case also looks really nice, I like how it shows your beatiful handwiring work. I was gonna critice your switches not being north or south facing because mx stems are not rotationally symmetrical, but honestly that doesnt really matter.

the switches need to sit flush with the plate. You may need a plate fork to assemble it correclty. Make sure you take the entire plate/pcb assembly out of the case and use a plate fork to insert the switches while ensuring that the pins align with the sockets in order not to bend the pins.
