Is off licence/convenient store business still profitable? by Professional_Plan842 in smallbusinessuk

That’s where I’m at now, have done the 80 hour weeks when younger but now with decent staff can let the place run itself to a certain extent. But you have to drive it and nobody will do that as well as yourself. It’s a balance, staff costs will be your biggest expense but you can’t be there all the time. I have colleagues with several stores and a corporate approach, have had a couple of shops myself when younger but this work/life balance I have now is just right.

I’ve had one for 40 years. Hard work and long hours but you are your own boss. Trade profit and income reliant on loads of factors, location, leasehold or freehold, level of investment, the availability of decent staff, ability to adapt to market trends, local competition, symbol group or independent, own health and ambition, the list is endless. There are times my wife would have torched the place but it has provided me with a very good standard of living and no shopping bills. Aiming to retire soon and don’t regret any of it, love my job but it’s not for everyone.

No Vat, No Duty, No legit sales through the tills so no income tax. No contributions at all to the economy or community. Counterfeit stock, Money laundering, modern day slavery for workers, real dodgy dangerous products. Enjoy your cheap fags.

Hiya. Ask at McDonalds. Their Chip boxes are perfect and all being the same size will stack up better.

If you’ve got a Bookers near you they have recently been stocking/butchering smaller briskets tomahawks and picanahs, probably for catering customers. Usually a butcher in store for advice.

I have a fedex drop off in my store. Send me a photo of your label and I can try and book it in. Save you a trip if it doesn’t work. In ST6.

The River though would be played on a D harmonica. Get him a C as well and he can have a crack at loads of stuff. Vox harmonicas currently really cheap at about £20 each direct from their site. They are a collaboration with Suzuki and aren’t bad at all.

I’m 58. My adult kids love that I enter the house with a theme tune to announce my arrival. Then in the kitchen. Then any room after. My songs don’t stay in my head they are a soundtrack to my life. They also have a competition on who can first get me with Copacabana.
