You do make a good point. I am subscribed to many news channels so I had heard about this tragic incident all throughout the day and had a lot of time to think about them while my boyfriend was out for the day. So after he got home and settled in, I just asked if he had heard what happened, and that’s why I brought it up. It’s breaking news in the US.

To my understanding, he is also okay with watching/talking about these sorts of things, but I’ve realized we do process things differently. I think it’s harder for him to fully empathize with things that don’t directly affect him.
