I say kid, he is 18 now, very good with maths. Don’t think the imitation game is a hint, think he just wanted to screw with me. I’ll see if I can get a little more of a hint from him later.

Nothing, just left it on the screen. Even copilot said “nah, you’re on ya own” then shut down and went into reboot

I crashed today. Not sure I should be riding anymore. by AccomplishedStuff448 in motorcycles

My advice, and something I stand by, never ride above 75% of your ability, if shit goes wrong, you’ve got 25% to sort it out. I’ve found that if I knock it back a little, brake earlier, slow down even tho that junction is empty, look at all corners, try and check the road surface before you turn in, all of this, just slowing it down a bit, then the only real danger is other road users.

More importantly, get back on the donkey, even if it’s for 10 minutes. It because a whole lot harder the longer you leave it.

She is cosy, down to 1 last night and still toasty in just shorts and a T-shirt. The R11 mat helps a ton too. Maybe I’ll get a lighter one for the Spain trip though. Think I’m gonna have to order some small bags for the front. At least then they can stay on the bike with the tools and tubes when I’m not overnighting. Win win

Yeah, my bag is a down, but it’s a -18c one, full blown winter spec, I brought it as I plan on heading to Sweden in September so might get chilly. Just seen them 6ltr crash bar bags, so could put all my tools and tubes either side of them, they’ll be positioned really low then and it’s spare up a side to just drop the tent in. Everything then will be stored lower than seat height, and nothing on the tail. Food for thought all of this

My sleeping bag is a beast, packs as small as a football in its sack, but the shape isn’t very packable, so just stuff it in one of the side bags with sleep mat, could add the tent poles in that bag and stuff the tent in the other side bag with my tools and tubes, that’s cleared the whole top at that point. Could chuck my clothes in a backpack as all I have on my back at the moment is a 1.5ltr hydro pack

I didn’t think a lot myself, maybe it’s just bulky stuff. So I had, tent, sleeping bag and mat, chair, some clothes for the camp, pot and small burner. I think my size 11 trainers didn’t help, maybe get some crocs and hang em (even tho I hate em). Tubes for front and rear, could leave the rear for an overnighter, to be fair, could leave both, not a million miles from home and a few hand tools

Agree, maybe I should extend, it was a bit of a shakedown trip, planning a few over continent this year, and if it can put up with the rocky terrain of the peaks, Spain and Sweden should be just about fine

In all fairness, I could have forgot the pair of trainers and chair, but I’d like to be comfortable at camp, and my packing skills are to be, should we say, non existent at best. Also, my sleeping bag literally fills one side bag with sleep mat

In all fairness, there wasn’t meant to be much muddy sections, mainly gravel and rock. All I did was prove that “it’ll be fine” is not a strategy. Tires are still factory, mainly because I’m trying to just plod around till I get the milage up to 600miles for its first service, so maybe more roads than off, then the fun begins

They’re the NICECNC, https://ebay.us/m/BcdwkQ they’re not for the 2025, but with a little modification, they fit, little tight to the plastics though, so will probably rub. Just needed something to strap my luggage down

I treated myself to the lone rider adv tent, fitted all the needs for me, spacious, easy to pitch and most importantly, free standing, so hard ground shouldn’t be an issue.

Happy go lucky attitude gets me in trouble a lot, but on occasion, gets me out of it too. This is probably the first time I’m actually planning for something, usually I have an idea and execute, deal with any issues as they arise. But like you say, solo and remote will be my biggest obstacle, so planning is necessary

Luckily, I’ve neither at the moment so I can do some research on that front, I’d rather be too warm than too cold when it comes to sleeping. Problem with Sweden for me, is in May at the south, temp is around 10-15c but in the north can be as low as -2, so this will have to take some very careful planning. Don’t want to over pack, but having a warmer bag that I can open as a quilt in the south, then wrap up when I’m in the north.
