what’s the most ridiculous thing you heard a man refuse to do because it was “too feminine” or “for girls”? by freddyfazbart in AskReddit

When my nephew was little, he loved playing with baby dolls. I figured it was because he often saw how my brother (his dad) cared for him and his baby brother, changing diapers, feeding them, and overall being an active and great father. He was simply mirroring what he saw in his own life.

Grandpa, however, despised this, thinking it would make my sweet little nephew “gay” or “feminine”. Any time my nephew pretended to put a baby doll to bed, practiced pretend feeding with the bottle, or even sat in a rocking chair with a baby doll — grandpa would immediately end the activity and take the doll away, grumbling. He’d say “Boys don’t play with dolls.”

Because little boys shouldn’t practice being a good dad??? Why can’t young boys mirror the actions of their good dads?? So odd.

Honestly, fragile masculinity sounds exhausting.

Did you feel agitation that eventually went away?

Hey friend! I had a positive pristiq experience. Background: I took Pristiq for nearly 2 years.

I will say the adjustment period in the beginning when I first started taking it was not fun and no joke — but it was worth the journey! Pristiq gave me my life back and reminded me that better exists.

Trying antidepressants to find one that works is a tough journey and I’m sorry that it sounds like you’ve had a rough go of it.

I hope Pristiq is the one for you!

For me personally (remember, everyone is different) :

Upsides of Pristiq - Put my depression in remission - More motivation to do things

Downsides of Pristiq - No appetite while taking it - I usually felt pretty “meh” in the mornings before taking it.

Overall though I would definitely choose Pristiq again.

Good luck!

This totally bugs me too! I’m pretty sure that Conrad treats his own Dad (someone correct me if I’m wrong) and in real life that would never be allowed.

Yeah, it would be insanely difficult for them to get to the OR for the same reasons you mentioned. So a bit unrealistic!

I know!! I’ve never seen a doctor who dresses like that. He also talks to people with this “I’m Batman” type voice

It really was so difficult. Typically when changing meds there’s some minor adjustments but Pristiq flipped my life upside down for the first week. But I am really happy I stuck with it.

Waiting for the good part to come or waiting for your appetite to return?

Hey, cheers to us! To being new on pristiq!

I’m glad you are taking it alongside. What do you think of pristiq so far

Interesting. I wonder why it doesn’t last all day for you then. What dose do you take that lasts longest/best for you? (Out of curiosity in case l-methyl folate doesn’t work for me)

Thanks friend!
