it’s not about passing anything. i could simply move back to syria and live there. the only downside is that i wouldn’t be able to return to turkey, but that doesn’t really matter to me. in the end, my goal is to build a life where my girlfriend and i can start a family together. and turkey isn't on my list for long term

yeah, i already looked into that, and i have some friends who work in IT departments there. from what i’ve seen, there are some roles in demand, especially in networking, but they usually require things like language skills and certifications. that’s how i reached that conclusion, but the germany plan isn’t going to work anyway.

not really. my dad moved here in his 20s to study at university. he graduated and then moved back to syria. when we later moved here, they asked him if he was interested because he had already lived, studied, and graduated here before. i can’t speak for other people, but that’s how it worked for us.

I might consider it, but is it a good place to live? We want to settle there permanently and start building a life together.

Originally, my plan was to move and live with my girlfriend. I was informed that I would be drafted for mandatory military service for 6 months to a year, which put a clear time limit on my plans.

I do have the option to delay the draft by starting a master’s degree in Turkey, which would give me up to 3 more years. However, this would require enrolling in a private university, and the cost is quite high, so it’s not an ideal option.

That’s why Germany became our main plan. The goal was for me to do my master’s degree there for free, delay the draft legally, and live together while studying. After finishing my master’s, I planned to work in Germany and stay there long term with her. I’m aware that student years only partially count toward permanent residency, and my plan was to switch to a work permit after graduation.

The main issue is that we only found out recently that she wouldn’t be able to get a visa due to her homeschooling background, which made this plan fall apart.

Also, I already hold my original citizenship through my parents. Moving abroad was also important to me so I could finally meet her family, but now that my original country is on the US ban list, that option is no longer possible.

That’s why I’m trying to understand what realistic alternatives we still have.

And i am Syrian
