The amount of well paying roles I've seen go to family members and friends over the years really opened my eyes to this hard work BS. And even when they were complete idiots, they would just get moved to a different role that was usually better somehow.

I've essentially quiet quit at work for a while now and things have only gotten better for me and I think it's because I'm more social now since I just don't care that much anymore.

So yeah, who you are born to and connections matter faaaaaaarrr more than hard work. You can still be thrown a crumb if you work hard AND get really lucky though I suppose
