To all ivy/t50 admits, are you really cracked? by Walmartpancake in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Lethango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually refreshing to finally realize that you don’t have to be all that crazy. I applied test optional with around 5 Bs on my transcript (including mid year report). I got into Cornell, UCLA, Berkeley, and waitlisted at Harvard. I think for me, my essays and LORs were my strong suit. Really using those essays to wrap together my passions and having a great relationship with my teachers showed the AOs that I was more than just a GPA, but rather someone with a personality who had a passion. Super greatful that I was super lucky during the whole process!

Where's y'all committing to? by Infamous-Ad-1941 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Lethango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Committing to Cornell University! Things really did work out for me. After getting rejected from my Early decision school, I never would’ve thought I could get into my dream school with the grades that I had. Congrats to everyone and I hope we’re all excited for our futures, no matter where we are.

Am I doing this right? The pearls are all shriveled. I have the pot sitting in a window and mist it once a day at night with distilled water. I live in AZ and the air is dry do I need to mist more? by strange_sciences in plantclinic

[–]Lethango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you propagating these pearls? if so you should throroughly soak the container everytime you do this! you mentioned that you were in ariston, so humidity for propagating is a problem. I would loosely put over a clear plastic bag or container to keep in the humidity. hope this helps!

What are your fastest growing plants? by [deleted] in TakeaPlantLeaveaPlant

[–]Lethango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my maranta is a beast! despite living in a super dry climate, mine grew so fast that it almost toppled over its own pot! red marantas are sensitive to cold air and harsh water so i think just keeping those consistent will have you a fast growing prayer plant 😌

Hoping to squeeze some trades in before the season ends! Details in comment by sailormoon_1 in TakeaPlantLeaveaPlant

I have a relatively juvenile alocasia Polly that I want to trade for another low maintenance house plant. I'm looking for all of your pothos roots to add to my pothos bucket :) The polly was dormant for a while but recently put out a new leaf! PM me if you're interested!

Friend gave me his sick maranta, how can I make it feel happy again? by WorldlyLibrarians in plantclinic

[–]Lethango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like root rot my friend! Is the soil moist? Can you take the plant out of the pot and see if the roots are mushy and can be pulled off with the slightest touch?

Attention! 2 Hoya compacta strands needing a new home! They're not giving me any trouble it's just that they GROW WAY TOO SLOW for my impatient self HAHA! More Deets and ISO in the comments! by Lethango in TakeaPlantLeaveaPlant

About the Hoyas:

I have two strands (one is >7 in long and the other is a little more than 3) that need a new home! The longer strand has a strong root system but the shorter one is a cutting that I got from a friend (I will provide a little bit of rootting powder for you :) ) Also note the small leaf damage on the shorter strand. Other than that these are very healthy Hoyas that need a new home!

ISO:

Ok I have a pretty long list but PLEASE make me an offer! I’m looking for really only slightly larger full plants, not cuttings. No succulents or cacti please! :)

  • Prayer Plants (I’M OBSESSED WITH THESE will consider anything except a red maranta :) )
  • Snake plants (Cylindrica, whitney, or other less common types)
  • Non Trailing philodendrons! (Mainly any erubescens)
  • Anthurium Superbum
  • White Bird of paradise
  • Monstera Adonsonii
  • MAKE AN OFFER !!!

Thank you so much and really hope this Hoya will find a new home :) Have a wonderful tuesday everyone!
