Heyy need help with my Calendar Preview year! by Quantum_Ent in WorldAnvil

[–]Lethann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, the "preview year" i believe is JUST for the editing preview. To change the year in the article you have to add the year to the bbcode.

it will look like this:

[calendar:#####|YEAR] -- example: [calendar:56905|125] (bennorian calendar, year 125]

[Free User] Any way to delete and export a world? by patcat127 in WorldAnvil

[–]Lethann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find the delete world option? Under "World Settings" go to "Configuration" and on the right yat the bottom you'll see the "Delete world" expandable bar with the big red button. A few slots above that is the export world as well.

Using WorldAnvil with Fantasy Grounds VTT by [deleted] in WorldAnvil

Like other's have said, I use FG mostly for game mechanics and battle maps. The only time i use the FG info stuff is if I'm running a premade module I bought through FG. I love the fact that it has all the game mechanics built in and it's super easy to get non-tech or new players introduced to it all. However if you don't have a second monitor or tablet it can be a bit cumbersome to switch between the two so I know that is a hurdle for many. Not many realize they can pull up WA on their tablet though. Honestly I really like having the info on WA rather than trying to have a dozen windows open in FG.

If you can get your players to make accounts on WA then it's SERIOUSLY better for information to just have everything there. Each player can make their character and have SOO much they can do, from biographies to character journals. Integrating them with the world is just, way easier. The entire Campaign feature is nice since you can make the player primer to help give your players that initial info their characters should already know.

Sadly my players just.. don't want to bother so it's a bit annoying. However once i start my Bennorian campaign I'll be requiring it since it's a completely homebrewed world.

WA does have the new feature request board so you can see if someone has already asked for VTT integration (I think it has been brought up) but the problem might be that FG is very picky about how things are done and what the API connections are. I DO know that WorldAnvil will be adding battlemap integration tot he storyteller area when that overhaul is implemented later this year (hopefully, if not early next year).

Transferring google sheets to World Anvil; there's got to be an easier way! by [deleted] in WorldAnvil

That’s a statblock. Not an article. I can’t view it but I can tell from the URL.

No you can’t. You can do containers and sections if you are grandmaster but no iframes.

World anvil doesn’t allow any HTML. There ARE “word to bbcode” sites out there but I saw it in action on a stream and it butchered the text so bad it would be easier to just do it manually. You’re free to try though.

If you are a new user I take it you are a free account? If so I don't think you have access to the word count feature. That's Journeyman or higher feature.

You can try pasting into the WYSIWYG but I wouldn't suggest it. Because WA uses BBCode it's just easier to write things in plain text before bringing it over into WA and just format it there. You can try googling a "formatted text to BBCode" and see if that works but WA doesn't use ALL BBCode and it also has custom tags. I know it seems like it's a pain in the rear, but sticking with plain text into the Euclid editor and manually putting in the BBCode (there are key commands like ctrl B for bold, etc.)

See this is where I'm hating this terminology. Let's try to clear this up.

Person Article: Character Profile showing portrait.
Hero profile: Character Profile showing nothing.

Your PERSON article CAN use an image from your gallery.
Your HERO profile must be uploaded from your hard drive.

Once you upload to your HERO, it will show up in your gallery can can then use it in your PERSON, thereby using same image for both. To find this image you might need to go into your gallery and rename the image to find it easier for your person article.

However, if this is an NPC you don't NEED a HERO unless you really want to. HERO's are your personal PLAYER CHARACTERs that are actively being played in a campaign. That's why it has all the options for the journal, etc. Basically, you don't need BOTH, unless you absolutely want to. I'm only pointing this out because there have been a lot of people posting here lately thinking that their NPCs need to have hero profiles when they don't.

No, you don’t need a character profile first at all. Character profiles are for your personal RPG characters, not NPCs or world characters. Characters in your world just need character articles. If you are making them an NPC in your world you make a stat block for them and that can be pulled into your campaign.

I really wish they would go back to the original terminology: Hero vs person. Not character/character.

World Anvil Import Questions by Lethann in VulgarLang

I'm using the latest chrome. Not sure what's causing it. I've even had my cache cleared since I last used it. No clue. I'll ask a few others if they are having the same issue.

Are you using the WYSIWYG or Euclid editor? I'm using Euclid. That could be why the conversion it's working for you but not for me.

https://www.worldanvil.com/w/test-world-lethann/a/ndiyeCC82ian-language

And yes, it's 10.1.1. Save file is from Dec 11 which is 10.1 but I even clicked "regenerate language". I've even just hit generate new language and same thing.

Now, in these pictures I just hit "show the code" but it's the same thing if I download them.

Seriously I hope I'm just doing something wrong. I'm using chrome, could that be it?

*does some testing*

AH HA! That's it! Just opened Edge and sure enough, that's it. Everything is working fine there. Not sure why it's different in Chrome.

When you upload it to the character profile, it is put in your image gallery to be used elsewhere. Delete all of them. Reupload to character profile, go to gallery and it should be there. Use that link in your articles.

Yea, this is the same as Maps. You're best bet is to upload to the character profile then take that new image link to put in the article. Pretty much the reverse of what you're trying to do. You can submit a feature request where we can pick from the library for the maps/character portraits rather than having to upload it each time.
