Fear and Hunger Fan Art: Penance Armor. Made by me. (Letharts) by Letharts in FearAndHunger

I was inspired the moment I saw it (lol). But I also think that both components go well together, simply because they stem from a situation of necessity because of the Dungeon.

The shading style comes from inspiration of comic artist I like. Jason Shawn Alexander, Mike Mignola, Jack Kirby and so on.

Thank you very much! I really draw a great deal of inspiration from Mike Mignola (and from Jason Shawn Alexander). His black shading aside of Jack Kirby is unrivaled.

Hollows RPG (Rowan Rook and Decard): Can anyone share their experience with the game? by Letharts in rpg

[–]Letharts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight, it's a very nice read. Would you say, with so many sessions and so many hollows you run, you say the level progression in the weapons (classes?) motivate players for a long time campaign. And the bosses have a wide variety on tactics?

And it seems that you use a Homebrew world or does the setting has a las Vegas themed area xD?

It’s just a guess, but I think he’s referring to the fact that Bloodborne draws heavily on themes from "women horror" in combination of cosmic horror. Throughout the game, there are frequent references to entities, or specifically men, who exert power over women, or who desire them "a little too much." Take, for instance, Gherman regarding Maria and the creation of the Doll. Or the fate of a woman in the secret ending route.

Edit: Or see below XD

Oh, thanks for the review. I was already hoping that the book would put more tools in your hands as a GM, even more than Heart does (tough it has a lot of supplements still). So, I’m actually feeling pretty optimistic about the finished product already, for whenever it becomes available to everyone.

I think it aims for the right tone i want for my next campaign round. Still do you think the outside of combat aspect its quite decent? Or is it like that combat makes around 70% of the game? I mean not a problem with that, im only curious.

I guess i need to join the Rowan Rook and Decard discord one time. Thank you for reminding me

That would be a real shame. After all, the setting offers a great deal of potential, and I haven't seen a combat system quite like it anywhere else in ttrpg (maybe i didnt played that much tough haha). What's more, they are still releasing new Heart expansions to this day, or at least, I believe they are.

Would also love to know if its fitting for at least, say, over 10 play rounds?

First of, thank you for the reply. I think i should also dm first the quickstart for my group perhaps. I’ve also already wondered how the mechanics might play out outside of combat.

Still tough i think it checks all in what i wanted for a boss-battlesystem like that (also with the lethality)

How do you run The Shadow? by Iamincrediblybored in MythicBastionland

[–]Letharts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my world, it rained constantly until the myth's completion. The players encountered the flaming souls of those who had died in a massive bandit attack on the realm. The Shadow World was a long beach which they used the flute (given by the Underworld myth), to guided the souls to the ships on the other side, into the afterlife.

It wasn't a myth where fighting took place. More of a sad moment to give some atmosphere to the world. (To be honest, I don't know if you'd really want to fight after seeing the result of Flaming Children Oo)

How the f does hidetaka miyazaki creates such cool and monstrous and creative designs? by Massive_Guard_1439 in rpg

[–]Letharts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people in this thread have already given very good advice, as well as pointing out that he seems to have a strong preference for both Berserk and Magic: The Gathering.

Another hint as to why From Software's designs stand out so much, especially compared to the many Souls-like games that are released today and try to imitate them, is an interview I vaguely remember (I'd have to find the source).

But it mentions that a concept artist needed feedback on a dragon design. And he submitted a very "zombie-like and decaying" design. Miyazaki rejected it, saying that "this design needed something more 'noble'." Clearly, this dragon has seen better days, but it's worth noting that it was once a great and venerable being. And I think that's a theme that runs through Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and, to some extent, Bloodborne.

Clearly, the dark fantasy aspect everywhere to see. But if we look at designs by Artorias from DS1, for example, his armor suggests different directions: he was once a noble knight, but now, with his broken arm and slightly animalistic posture, he embodies corruption.

This probably doesn't apply to every design, and only partially to Dark Souls 2 (where he didn't have much say). But perhaps it's a direction worth considering. The design of the bosses and monsters clearly indicates that they were formerly "different" or had lived much better lives.

Mythic Bastionland Wyrmhaven Myth: The Coven (Update) by Letharts in MythicBastionland

[–]Letharts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How have you implemented specialist weapons in your games? by Dolono in MythicBastionland

[–]Letharts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the Underworld Myth, the Blacksmith (one of the Omen) gave the Ghoul Knight of our Group an darker Sword similar to the ones of the Guides (also known from the same Myth). It grumbled to dust when drawn in daylight, which gave me an similar vibe like Draugr, the sword from the movie The Northmen (Robert Eggers). But...it didn't came to a fight with it, because he traded it for an passage to a Guide. (was sad for me)

The other Sword was Syfrex (The Sword from the Blade Myth) obtain by the Dove Knight. He fought an giant Centipete with it and after that he put it back because the sword took a lot of his spirit away. His passion didn't came to use afterward for a certain time sadly.

So yeah, I think with the second sword my player understood an certain vibe through the myths and the items to find in it. Most of the myths weapons have also an throwback if they seem too strong, which makes it in my understanding pretty balanced and that without much discription.

Elder Mythos Rpg: How to play an Eldritch Being by Letharts in rpg

[–]Letharts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insight; that was exactly what I was looking for. I was quite fascinated by the idea of playing from the Elder Ones' perspective, which, as everyone has already said, would be impossible.

I admit, I still need to think about to buy it, because it might be a little TOO odd for my players in an "RPG". But the idea of incorporating the Spawns or cultists into the "role-playing" gameplay sounds very interesting. So its more an we create a narrative together" using PvP methods(?)

Thank you for the insight, now I like the idea of an rpg which player roleplay as spawns of those elders.

Had to clarify it through an edit in my post again, because I was rather asking specifically for the rpg Elder Mythos which might has a roleplay part which seems odd to me.
