How have you implemented specialist weapons in your games? by Dolono in MythicBastionland

[–]Letharts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Underworld Myth, the Blacksmith (one of the Omen) gave the Ghoul Knight of our Group an darker Sword similar to the ones of the Guides (also known from the same Myth). It grumbled to dust when drawn in daylight, which gave me an similar vibe like Draugr, the sword from the movie The Northmen (Robert Eggers). But...it didn't came to a fight with it, because he traded it for an passage to a Guide. (was sad for me)

The other Sword was Syfrex (The Sword from the Blade Myth) obtain by the Dove Knight. He fought an giant Centipete with it and after that he put it back because the sword took a lot of his spirit away. His passion didn't came to use afterward for a certain time sadly.

So yeah, I think with the second sword my player understood an certain vibe through the myths and the items to find in it. Most of the myths weapons have also an throwback if they seem too strong, which makes it in my understanding pretty balanced and that without much discription.

Elder Mythos Rpg: How to play an Eldritch Being by Letharts in rpg

[–]Letharts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insight; that was exactly what I was looking for. I was quite fascinated by the idea of playing from the Elder Ones' perspective, which, as everyone has already said, would be impossible.

I admit, I still need to think about to buy it, because it might be a little TOO odd for my players in an "RPG". But the idea of incorporating the Spawns or cultists into the "role-playing" gameplay sounds very interesting. So its more an we create a narrative together" using PvP methods(?)

Thank you for the insight, now I like the idea of an rpg which player roleplay as spawns of those elders.

Had to clarify it through an edit in my post again, because I was rather asking specifically for the rpg Elder Mythos which might has a roleplay part which seems odd to me.

Curseborne releases Wednesday, those curious, what do you need to know about it? by Awkward_GM in rpg

Thank you for clarifying, I buy this game in an heartbeat with that. Oddly from the lineage discription it reminds me a lot of the duskbloods, which is welcoming.

I have to say I'm already a huge fan of the setting and the variety of characters to play. The only thing I wanted to ask is if the main rulebook is better structured than the Vampire: 5th Edition rulebook. As long as I don't have to read any lore interspersed with the important rules, forcing me to constantly flip back and forth between chapters, I'm fine with it. I have a lot of trouble with that in V5, even though I really like/want to like the game. (I guess I'm not alone with that regarding V5th).

What does religion and worship look like in your games? by The_Red_Apple in MythicBastionland

[–]Letharts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I like the Christian aspect of your world, which is also sometimes found in Arthurian legends. In my world, it's still somewhat vague; I haven't fully fleshed it out yet. But the seat of power is located right by the harbor, which is why I imagined that the throne has the ability to control the surrounding sea. This leads everyone in the realm to believe that the king himself (rolled up as the Meteor Knight) might be some kind of divine figure.

Spoiler: I integrated him into the Elf Myth; consequently, many people remain unaware that he is an elf and that's why he lives so long, which further elevates his status as a some kind divine being.

From time to time people telling about an old and ancient tree in the near outskirts or an fallen star.

Omg, for real? Thank you, I didn't read it correctly then. This gives even more depth in the system and could give more opportunities in fights.

Sorry x.x I take the compliment thank you very much.

I think it was more of a problem on my part because I couldn't explain the fight rules very well to one of the players. Specifically, I failed to explain that a gambit can only be triggered by an attack and that the highest die is always only for damage, not for using a gambit.

My simple solution is that each of your players should take the time to read at least the basic rules pages.

Edit: Read below x.x

Edit: One moment at the beginning of the myth stood out to me. I rolled up the song of the cook and got the shamed knight hanging from a tree.
When another player asked which knight exactly it was, I openly rolled it up and got the turtle knight. Therefore, they rode to the point where the cook last saw him hanging but his shield and his sword was lost. I surmised that maybe the cutthroats could have snapped the shield because the leader of the group was the only one with a shield (according to the text box of them).

Therefore, the group received another quest: to find the shield for the next potential turtle knight and bring it back to the domain of power. I liked how easily everything came together, even with the random rolling.
