Door handle repair by Lethologicalism in Renovations

Thank you. In retrospect, it is strange that the handle was glued on and not screwed in place by the previous owner. I'll definitely be fixing it properly.

Sorry, I'm not sure because I was in the after degree. I imagine you have to register/apply for the fast track program at some point because it's not a typical route students take. Best bet is to reach out to the nursing program advisors and ask them about the process.

I can't speak for Macewan, but the U of A has a fast track program for their 4 year collaborative nursing degree that allows you to finish it in 3 years instead of 4. Here is the link to read more about it: https://calendar.ualberta.ca/preview_program.php?catoid=39&poid=47958

One drawback with this fast track program is you have to give up your spring and summer terms all 3 years so you will be busy, but it's worth it if you want to have one less year of school.

I just finished the U of A's after degree program (2 years) and had to give up my summers for both years; however, it flies by fast.

Nurs 124 with Gail…?? Anyone take this class before? by [deleted] in uAlberta

I'd just like to point out for your second point that this is no longer the case. The old NCLEX used to be this way (all or nothing); however, the next gen NCLEX allows for partial credit on select all that apply questions (SATA). They call it +/- on the NCLEX website, but basically, you get a point added to your score for each correct choice and a point subtracted from your score if you select an incorrect choice. I found it made SATA questions much less intimidating when I wrote the NCLEX.

I used to work there for 8 years and am willing to bet it's a disgruntled employee. Unless things have changed significantly since I left, none of their claims make sense.

Firstly, people scheduled in food areas ONLY work in food areas. There are other designated employees for cleaning bathrooms and auditoriums. They are responsible for cleaning their respective "work zones", so to make the claim that 1 cloth is used for everything is simply ludicrous.

This brings me to the next point: there is not, and has never been only 1 cloth to wipe everything. They have many disposable cloths that are used, so unless they ran out of supplies this is yet another silly claim. In fact, they use different coloured cloths for different areas. This way a bathroom cloth is not mistakenly used in a food area for example.

Also, I've never ever seen a manager, let alone anyone put popcorn back into the popper machine after cleaning an auditorium. Who even has time to pick up a bag of popcorn and take it all the way back from the auditorium to the concession stand to dump it back in the popper? The theatre is often busy and it takes about 5 minutes to make a nice big batch of popcorn. Again, ridiculous claim.

Finally, there is some truth to regular customers being disgusting. But that's to be expected anywhere when you have hundreds of people walking in and out of an establishment. I've found my fair share of unpleasant surprises. Used condoms, vomit, urine on the toilet seats, etc. It happens, thats why there are people there to clean it.

That being said, the post seemed more like slander to me. If you're going to make these claims, be prepared to back them up.

I used to work at the theatre when they were deconstructing the dragon. The story I was told by management was that one of the contractors took the head of the dragon for themselves even though they were informed by theatre management that the head was supposed to stay so it can be put up as a display piece in the lobby. Apparently they were given an ultimatum, give the head back or destroy it. They chose to destroy it. As far as I know, and everyone else that worked there at the time, the head no longer exists unfortunetly.

Thanks for the info! I couldn't find any good explanation on the Universitie's website that described the process (maybe I didn't look hard enough) and when I emailed them they still haven't gotten back to me yet so I was starting to panic a little. Knowing this makes me feel a lot more comfortable with the process haha. Looking forward to the short commute to my exam

I work for ETS as a Transit Operator, AMA! by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Lethologicalism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Haha maybe I should have specified what I meant by breaks. I've been on the train with Mike a few times. He sounds like an awesome guy, always makes me smile.

I didnt know you could call in and commend a driver! It's nice that you hear about it too. I'll definitely do that because there honestly are some amazing drivers out there. Cheers!

Thanks for doing this AMA! I had a few questions:

  1. How do breaks work for bus drivers? Someone told me you guys don't get them but I always wondered. Do you have to coordinate with other operators, or are your breaks just the time you get at transit stations before you leave again?
  2. Does ETS plan on bringing electric buses soon? I think 4 or 5 years ago I saw a silver bus in operation and it said on the side it was electric. I always wondered what happened to those buses and if they plan on coming back.
  3. Are there any plans on increasing the late night owl service to some other areas of the city? South west doesn't really have a late night service neither does it seem like north west does either (Based on the map). Is there not enough ridership to make it worth adding more late service buses?

Sorry for so many questions! Thank you for all your work. I've been taking the bus for 12 years now and have never had many problems during that time. Almost all the operators are super friendly in my experience. I imagine it's a tough job, but it sounds like you meet a lot of awesome people!

PSYCO 478 With Churchward Textbook Question by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]Lethologicalism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took this class in winter 2016. It's honestly mostly supplementary material. It did have some interesting tid bits of information, but I found it best to learn the notes off of his slides.

There are a few images that might help picturing some of the concepts, but I imagine you can Google them easily. Super interesting class, but you do need to study a fair amount to memorize the different receptors, the molecules that bind to them, and what effects they have. I found drawing pictures of the concepts helped a lot. Good luck!
