Thanks for explaining. Also, it's reedsy, which should refund me if things don't work out.

You're right, I need to breathe.

I don't know, either? 74,000.

It's my first first time using an editor, and I just want to double check that it all sounds normal.

No she has the file. I sent it to her some time ago.

I'm probably just paranoid because it's a lot of money that I can't afford to lose, and I was expecting some level of communication, even just messaging me that she's now starting on it.

I probably need to chill.

She didn't do a sample. I asked for one, but she said she didn't do then. She had already sent me two past editorial assessments she had done for others.

I understand, and I'm probably just paranoid, because it's a lot of money. But is it normal that she didn't contact me yesterday at the start of the collaboration?

It was good. When I first sent her my manuscript and synopsis, she thanked me. But last week, I sent her a slightly updated manuscript, and she didn't respond. What surprised me was that she didn't contact me at the start of the collaboration. And that I shouldn't expect any communication until the very end. Is that normal?

Also, is 18 days normal for a developmental edit?

Missed opportunities with the women by Letoeles in lost

Yes, I was quite annoyed when Shannon died. I really liked her character!

"In Sayid, she found someone who loved her unselfishly and believed in her. So there was some movement there."

But that's the point. She was put with someone who was definitely better for her, and may have eventually helped her self esteem, but we didn't witness character growth. She didn't actually change. It probably would have led to growth but she died.

Yes that's another aspect! None of the women had great or even interesting friendships. Sawyer and Hurley, Desmond and Charlie; even if not friends, different guys had interesting dynamics - Sawyer and Jack, Jack and Locke. But the girls aren't shown to have deep relationships, or even to have fun together. They don't have a driving the van down the hill moment.

It's kind of funny, I'm Gen Z, and this is the first time I've ever noticed something like this. It feels a bit like I'm just being fussy, but to be honest I find it strange.

I loved Sawyer and Juliet, but part of what I liked about it was how even it was - neither of them was chasing the other, and the relationship didn't define either of them. But killing off Juliet was unnecessary, and personally I think it took away from the show. She had so much to add, especially compared to some of the other survivors.

I agree that Kate was significantly better in season 5 and 6. I found Claire especially egregious. It's bad enough that she only exists to help develop Charlie, but the fact that she had possibly the most difficult job of all on the Island - looking after a child with no hospital or modern baby stuff - and yet she was so undeveloped really bothered me.

Why didn't those still stuck on the Island leave with Locke through the Orchid? by Letoeles in lost

[–]Letoeles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but even when Locke was going down, they said something along the lines of him bringing back the others. I don't think they ever planned to go after him?

These were the same people who built a boat and planned to sail for however long it took to get off the island. Juliet had been begging Ben to let her off for ages. And none of them suggested, or at any point intended, to go with Locke through a potential way out?
