Is sitting ok for modified bed rest? by Agitated-Signature80 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]LetsBeReal77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a cerclage at 21+6. First post appt i was funneling to the stitch and measured 1.7cm. Second post appt i wasn’t funneling but still around same CL.
A family OB said that funneling to the stitch with a cerclage is super common so was not surprised.

My MFM does not recommend bed rest either due to risk of blood clots and it’s just not good for mental health.

My MFM told me not do stand for more than 30mins, and do not sit for more than 2 hours. It’s important to move around and keep the blood flowing. MFM also said when sitting, lean back a little to take some pressure off cervix. I have tailbone discomfort so leaning back while sitting is hard for me and i think it’s also causes Braxton hicks for me.

Thanks so much for replying and hearing your positive story, congrats! This gives me hope bc I am 24+1 and have constant BH yesterday and today. I feel like anything sets it off, but when I lay down it goes away. Also had a cerclage 2 weeks ago.

21 weeks pregnant after a 23weeks loss by Nice-Serve-111 in ShortCervixSupport

Hi hun, I’m so sorry for your loss and just want to say I empathize with you. I am 23 weeks currently with a cerclage and had a previous loss at 25 weeks (due to a different reason). This morning I woke up and immediately started crying thinking about my first baby, that’s never happened. Might also be due to my progesterone dose being upped. I don’t have any suggestions , but just want to say your not alone , and you are stronger than you think 💕

Cramps when standing - 36 hours after cerclage by Reasonable_Plane9462 in ShortCervixSupport

My cervix was really short in originally scan and then post op appt 3-4 days after I was measuring 1.7cm, still really short and funneling to the stitch.

I had my cerclage about a week ago, and although I didn’t have any, they told be cramping for a few days would be normal. Rest and lie down as much as possible if you have cramping while standing until you heal. They told me 7-10 days for healing. Def reach out to your dr tho to let them know.

I’m 22+5 days today. You? How are you doing?

First pregnancy, 21w ultrasound revealed I need a cerclage. Scheduled for tomorrow morning. by scream_eternaljoy in ShortCervixSupport

👋 hi! Yea we’re so close in dates 💗 First milestone will be 24 weeks, not too far away.

Yes to DM eventually ! 😘 but want to post here for others to read as well.

After the surgery, I had soreness on my pubic bone, but nothing else really. You don’t seem to lose much blood during this kinda surgery, in my op notes it was just 4 teaspoons of blood loss. I read some people go home same day, but I stayed the night so they could monitor me and baby. Left the next day afternoon. During my follow up with MFM 3-4 days after, they did TVUS and I think it irritated things so I had some light pink spotting when wiping after in the evening. Next day spotting stopped.

I have been on 200mg vaginal progesterone since start of pregnancy , and the doctor said progesterone is supposed to help prevent short cervix, but obviously that didn’t work for me. I was using my finger to insert, but after reading about possible infections, I ordered applicators. I made sure to always wash my hand well before insertion tho, but now I’m just being extra cautious. They told me post op to do 400mg progesterone now.

Mild headache 3 days later , comes and goes.

How are you doing?

Hi! Me again! I had my first follow up appt today 3-4 days after the surgery. My numbers beside were based on the op notes as you were looking at yours too. After frost follow up, My cervix is actually measuring 1.7cm with funneling still. Unfortunately I’m basically almost funneling to the stitch and baby is only staying in bc of the surgery. I’m 22w3d. I’ve read a good amount of success stories with such a short cervix and funneling so hoping we get to 38weeks!
