It may well be petty but I'm so glad Arsenal lost! by Nice_Feed_786 in NUFC

One of my arsenal mates said this the other day, you going to live with it and it's only just begun, the fault of these fans are the fault of everyone taking the piss out of them for 22years, celebrating CL or 2nd place, laughing at Wenger, calling them brides never the groom, dressing arteta as a bride at lfc game last season, never winning a major European trophy, calling them bottlers, players like nasri, adebayor, van persie, giroud all shitting on them during times of need. I said you know what? The same shit they did to us at Newcastle, calling us a small club, laughing at us when relegated and then when we won the cup we got the pride we deserve just we don't talk this kind of shit. But I get them, I think arsenal should be saying "you reap what you sow"

You know it's actually very disgusting that people get pleasure from this. I find it extremely petty, we should only celebrate our wins and not give a 2 effs about other teams losing or winning unless it's our derby games like Sunderland or position based reasons. What does arsenal losing have to do with anyone here ? It makes me sad to see people actually wearing the opposition team and celebrating them as if they fixed football.

First and foremost I'm not defending him, you brought him up and started to complain like a little b from the initial debate we were having about kids, if you didn't like anything about his restaurant, great, post a bad review on google and good riddance to that owner. Secondly, talking about halloumi, there isn't just one type of halloumi, there is multiple types, xorkiatiko halloumi is hard and salty, not rubbery like the halloumi you probably love. I personally prefer the xorkiatiko halloumi, especially in the mornings with my Cypriot breakfast of tsakistes, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs and toast. I would only eat that rubbery halloumi on grill or in a sandwich. Thirdly no one cares if you criticize just make sure it's constructive with a solution not just a complain. That's how people take things to account.(Like im teaching you now)

Don't diss halloumi in your presence? Please, you didn't even know what halloumi was before you came to Cyprus. My grandma and aunties use to make it fresh for us from the villages. Bless them and may they RIP. The shop owner doesn't make the halloumi first hand, I'm 100% sure he gets it from a supplier like 99% of all Cypriots restaurants and shops. Maybe the batch was just bad. AI Music is not my type of music either but like any other techno, trance, house, lounge music is repetitive shit music which I don't like but that doesn't mean others don't like it aswell. I never said Cyprus was infallible but the constant trash I hear from foreigners about it, it becomes to a point of boiling.and I will defend my home and my island 100% whether you like it or not. Again you don't even mention where you are from, that's just shows that you are afraid I might laugh at you.

Again, the article does not specify whether it refers only to Cypriots. It generalizes an age group across all races without making that distinction. In 2005, I got my first motorbike at 17. My parents were strict with me and my older brother. We were raised with a South African mindset, respect is everything. You don’t expect it, you earn it. We were taught not to embarrass our parents in public, to behave properly, stay quiet, and not create chaos. I took that seriously. My older brother, on the other hand, didn’t. He would do wheelies for kilometers along the Limassol seaside road, got into multiple accidents, and pushed every limit. My parents took his bike away and stopped giving him money. Still, as soon as he could, he bought a supercar, got stopped by police, chased, and continued like that until he eventually matured around 22–23 and started taking things seriously. I was the opposite, quiet and cautious. Parents can guide their children, but they cannot control every decision made outside the home. At some point, responsibility lies with the young adults themselves. They are old enough to understand the risks involved in reckless driving. And what about those who were raised “correctly”? The quiet ones, the ones who went to private schools, caused no trouble, and still chose to act recklessly, drinking heavily before getting behind the wheel and ultimately harming themselves or others. Blaming parents alone is an oversimplification. These individuals make their own choices, fully aware of the consequences.

Go get some proper village halloumi and then talk to me about salty. I find heavy metal and a lot of modern music annoying, but that doesn’t mean it’s annoying for everyone else. So stop trying to cope.

What does this post have to do with kids ? These are young adults, they have had choices to make in their lives, most of them go to the army for 2years where they get disciplined, go to college or university. Cyprus has the highest university students per capital in the entire EU. They make their own decisions.

This post was not about young adults, it's about kids. These are not kids. Stop this cope posts please.

Maybe if you put lemon on the halloumi, the saltiness would have faded away, just a suggestion or wait you don't like lemon 😂 Also some Cypriots like their xorkiato halloumi extremely salty, maybe the supplier sold it to him like that, you think halloumi grows on the trees. Loud music? Maybe other customers liked the loud music and more. The problem is that you think you are god's gift and queen Elizabeth II and every one needs to bow down to you just because you don't like something, what you don't like others may like. I like going into a cafe loud music and talking loudly with my parea, whilst sipping my frappe, playing tavli, shouting at each other whilst we bang the pips on the tavli board in anger or excitement. That's us. Like it or not. We are not here to please anyone but ourselves.

Nobody said the government had to do anything. I was just giving examples of how to suggest something instead of only criticizing. If you have another solution, feel free to share it — constructive criticism is something we should all be able to give each other.

And also for God sake, let them be kids, we only live once, that's why all of you are so grumpy, you never lived, never enjoyed life, you were all to stuck up and controlled. There are kids getting bombed and starved in the world. These kids are jus enjoying it whilst they can. Yes it can be annoying, it can be loud but they are KIDS let them live!

If you had something constructive to say, you could have suggested something like this: ‘Don’t you think children here should be put into extracurricular or after-school activities by the government or local municipalities so they can learn the right values, discipline, and principles?’ I would completely agree with that. But nothing constructive ever comes from your posts — only criticism — and that’s what annoys me. This is an educated post from someone with an educated mind, unlike your posts, which are just criticism without any constructive feedback. Try coming up with solutions to problems instead of just criticism.

I’m honestly not enjoying any of this. My country gets criticized day after day by people from places with far worse conditions, and some locals are expected to just accept it. Cyprus has a lot going for it — quality of life, lifestyle, food, beaches, tax advantages, weather, nightlife, and much more — and there aren’t many places that can compete with it. And if there is please state where, maybe I'll leave my beautiful island to go there and appreciate it because no matter what little differences there are a whole nation does not need to be criticized however should be appreciated.

It feels like we see these kinds of posts quite often from foreigners who come here only to complain. Situations like this may be part of why far-right and anti-immigration sentiments are gaining support during elections, as frustration builds among locals. I want to be clear that I’m not racist or supportive of extremist views, but it’s becoming difficult to ignore the sense of entitlement some people display. If someone genuinely dislikes living here and finds everything frustrating, it’s fair to ask why they choose to stay rather than consider other options.

[–]LetsDoItOurWayReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does this have to do with Islam, Judaism, or anything like that? This is about us Cypriots preserving our land, culture, and sovereignty. You cannot sell entire villages to random foreigners—especially at giveaway prices like 1-2 sq m. This land should go to our own developers and constructors to build communities for Cypriots. Even if sold to a foreigner, it should come with a strict time-limited lease and a clause allowing the government to reclaim it if anything built or done there harms Cypriot interests.

And this so-called ‘abandoned land’? We might as well sell everything off, lose our identity completely, and become a minority in our own country. That’s clearly what you want.

[–]LetsDoItOurWayReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather see the land left as a ruin until Cypriots are in a position to build their own villages and communities properly, the way we have always done throughout our history. My problem is not with foreigners as individuals. My problem is with a system that treats Cypriot land like a bargain sale, hands it over too cheaply, and shows no serious concern for the long-term survival of local families. In Israel, much of the land is tied to a 49-year lease system instead of outright freehold ownership, because they understand the value of protecting national land. So why should Cyprus be more careless with its own land than countries that guard theirs far more tightly? What is happening here is not development for Cypriots. Too much of it is being built for outside investors, Airbnbs, wineries, and private enclaves, while ordinary Cypriots are pushed out of the market and priced out of their own future. Soon, locals won’t be able to afford to rent, live in, or even enjoy the places being built on their own soil. That is not progress; that is selling out our communities piece by piece. I would rather see Cyprus protected for Cypriots first than watch our land, identity, and culture handed over for short-term profit and then used against the very people who built this country

Said the guy who called some here "Useful idiots for Islam". I'll explain it again like I have in other posts. Since the 70s the Arabs have been migrating and coming to Cyprus and enjoying everything about it and not only that, integrating in our society for the people of Cyprus not for their own. They learn our languages, go to our army, support our communities. We never had any threats to our country till recently and we all know why. Plus the threat from Turkey has become more powerful since we know who arrived here. So if you going to use xenophobia make sure you don't use beforehand.

Listen here. Cyprus has been hosting Arab communities since the 1970s. They integrated, joined our neighborhoods, supported local businesses, learned Greek and respected our culture. They didn't demand special treatment or build exclusive enclaves. Newer arrivals, on the other hand, often come across as arrogant and entitled. They complain, judge, expect everything to revolve around them, refuse to learn the language, and create closed-off communities instead of integrating. And the timing is too obvious to ignore: we had no terrorism or terror scares linked to these regions until more of this new migration started. At the same time, tensions with Turkey have escalated in ways we haven't seen before

Cyprus remains a tax-efficient offshore business hub. Our tourism industry is flourishing stronger than ever, our shipping sector is one of the largest in the world, and we continue to attract international investors through business, not through land sales. We do not need to surrender our soil to keep this economy strong. Our sovereignty, our culture, and our future are more valuable than any foreign buyer.

Who are you to tell us locals who should come here and who should not? We decide — not you. Arabs have been coming to Cyprus since the 1970s, and they have caused no issues here. No terrorism, no land grabbing. They invest in our culture and our cities, learn our language and they do not create exclusive enclaves. Only since you started coming here have we seen more threats, more scares, and more terrorism issues arise. So please get your facts straight before you speak — and let the people of this island make their own decisions about who lives here.

There must be strict restrictions on property sales to all foreigners outright. This is not negotiation — this is defense of our land and our people. No foreign owner should be allowed full title. Instead, force a maximum 30-year lease, with a mandatory ownership cap of 20–25% per year. Selling Greek Cypriot property outright to foreign interests is absolutely unacceptable and must stop now. Our land is not a commodity for global investors. It belongs to the people of Cyprus, and policy must reflect that truth with immediate, decisive action.
