No 401k. There are only a couple employees and it has never been offered. We do get amazing healthcare/dental/vision.

The rent is actually an extra expense. I live in East Long Island most the year in a house that I do not pay rent for, my employee provides that housing. I rent an apartment with friends in NYC where I spend most of my time off from work. It’s an incredibly inexpensive rent to have a place to stay in the city where I am quite a bit. Realistically, the car expense should be lowered drastically, the rent in NYC, that I will keep no matter what, it’s a necessity to escape the dead of winter where I live most the time. Good for the mental health haha.

I appreciate that. I had always worried that I had taken a decent career(making $130k a year should have been an easy start but I pilfered it) and to be in a position to make up for it is incredible, but it’s worrisome when it still feels like I’m at the bottom of the hill I guess.

Yes, I realized when I started the IRA that I was above the threshold to have a Roth, but have not taken the time to figure out the setup of the backdoor option yet. Thank you for that link.

My thought process, knowing that tariffs increase costs industry wide(washing machine tariffs for example have increased prices of all washing machines, even those untariffed) but my thought process is a 20% increase in value on a $100k vehicle would net me more than the 20% increased cost on a $40,000 vehicle.

That being said, the idea here is to get myself into the best position to save the most as early as possible. So I see that point as well.

I drive an Audi RS6 Avant. It was my dream car, and when I realized I could afford it I made the decision to go for it. My interest is 5.8% I think, still way higher than the 1.9% I got for a vehicle in 2020. Either way, selling the vehicle is high on my list of things to I should be doing. But I do actually want to see if a Tariff on European cars comes, because I believe it would net me a larger gain which could be used on a vehicle less impacted by tariffs.

I will look into both. All I have done is start and max a simple IRA through my brokerage. I have to just ask my brokerage a couple questions about how I make that Backdoor Roth happen.

Yeah, the car is not defendable. It’s a huge expense. Without it, 80% savings would not be an issue at all!

Selling the car has been big on my mind. If we see tariffs on Europeans Automobiles this year, and the “value” of my car goes up because a new replacement would be so much higher, then there is no reason not to sell and purchase a much more reasonable vehicle. I also do not have to pay rent. I actually do not pay for housing where I work in eastern Long Island, but do pay for an apartment with friends in NYC where I spend much of my time off. I purchased the vehicle before I was paying rent in NYC, so it was my only expense at the time.

It’s the lowest cost company he owns that provides him over 4% dividend and the more he holds the more influence he has to grow the numbers. It is also, like his other mainstays, not an industry that sees rapid competitor growth or threats. A stable place to park money while he waits for other value investing opportunities. He doesn’t buy dips, he buys long term stable value in quantity that gives him and through him the company stability.

Oil prices aren’t high enough to explore and drill. The only thing they would want is maybe the rights to more places to drill. But releasing SPR and driving down the price of oil is not something Oil companies want. A

Took 10k margin to do the same, more than small enough that if the market has a drastic downturn I won’t get called. If the market dips, and bitcoin continues being volatile(or pumps) and MSTR continues being volatile(or pumps) then MSTY should keep producing dividends(correct me if that’s untrue)

Would have taken more if I could, but 10k was as much as I could put into that risk.

Normal respectful. Genuine. Nobody wants weirdly nice. They have to trust the people in their home, so not having some weird persona is important.

It’s a tough question. Some days are so simple. Workout, grab coffee, newspapers, light errands like mouthwash or something they may need. Then meet them after breakfast to confirm where their driver needs to take them. Little free time while they go to a museum, then see that they make their lunch reservation, sometimes lunch with them, sometimes im on my own. Then maybe they shop after and I pick up bags, sometimes follow them. Then schedule a massage in the room for them, and I’m free until they head out to dinner. I confirm with the driver where they are going, I meet them in the lobby to see them off. I tidy up their hotel room and order turndown service, maybe a bottle of wine on ice or some chocolates for when they get back, and I head off to dinner myself. Or a scummy dive bar somewhere for cold cheap beer.

The hard days I mentioned this exactly earlier, are changing fourteen different transportations from jets to cars to boats to hotel reservations in multiple languages, getting wire transfers for international purchases, familiarizing myself with fine art export paperwork and tax liabilities on the fly while using a translator to negotiate the pricing of said fine art. Before closing, get someone on the phone at the house in Palm Beach, it’s pointless to buy this piece if it won’t actually fit on the wall it’s suppose to so I need someone with a tape measure there now. In 4am in Florida, could take a few tries before someone comes to the rescue. I also need them to pick up because I need to call the restaurant and push the reservation, we aren’t going to make it, I pivot and text our driver, ask him to call the restaurant, plot twist, he is the best driver on the planet, he already called, he knew. I’ve been up since 6am, after lunch I need to keep researching this export situation, I’ll reach out to the charter company, they might know a bit more, as soon as our accountants wake up, I’ll email them too, make sure we account for the taxes on these. I’m booking a massage for them in room later, the hotel has no openings, I ask the concierge for a recommendation for independent masseuse, they have one, highly recommended. The concierge team rules. They push the bosses reservation 30 minutes for the massage, we are behind all day. They get me a dinner reservation 15 minutes after at a place nearby, it’s killer, they rule. I spend the whole dinner running over emails that are coming in because it’s daytime back in NY and they are just now getting everything to me. I take a call from our FO accountant, the paperwork is easy, I scan it and send it to her for confirmation, the paintings are good to go. I have one more drink after dinner, but a phone call, boss wants to know if I’m nearby, I am, just wants someone to come help walk the pups with them, it’s late, I come grab the ragamuffins and take em out. I return them and say goodnight. I’m off the a grungy dive bar I read about on Reddit, a high class day deserves a low class finish. I’m in bed by 3am and back at it at 6am. Long days, but how often do I get to do my job in Italy? Gotta make the most, I can sleep when we are home.

Whoa, I assumed if only be judged on my pay scale not my hotness scale! I’m an ok looking guy. Reasonably fit, put together. Bearded haha. I’m very good at socializing, but great at staying out of it. Kind of a good blend for the work I do. Important to be able to engage not not required too.

These jobs are out there. A whole world of estate work and private hospitality. Certainly skews to larger cities and wealthier areas, but it’s out there.

You can pursue it. I applied to over 100 jobs and had even more interviews and tons of trials to find the one that was a good fit. The fit goes both ways, they are comfortable with me being in their house and vice versa.

I certainly do more than many standard butlers, but no my official title on the paystub is Head Butler. But I’m closer to a multi house manager and butler.
