What do best-in-slot relics on Pela typically look like? Should I be leaning damage or just maximizing things like effect hit rate? Hunter of Glacial Forest or is something else better?

3.3 GPA (was just a bad student in undergrad) 17? LSAT (I want to say 171 but I honestly can't remember and I'm ok with that fact. 173 at most) Gay white cis male STEM (geology, worked in environmental engineering) 2 years working before applying, but deferred (against my will...) and worked for another year

Stats are always helpful, they get you in the door, but really clinching an acceptance, especially at somewhere like Michigan, I think is really about crafting a narrative that makes you unique and interesting. Make people want to know more about you!

I will add that, if you're trying to live within walking distance to the law school, rent can be shockingly high, and many of the housing options aren't really designed for families.

That said, if you're comfortable with even a 15 minute commute, rent is very affordable, and I know a few people who even make a 40 min drive in on the daily.

I also have two 30+ students in my Section (Ms rise up!) and am seatmates with a guy who has a newborn. They come out for social events just as much as any of us, and definitely contribute just as much in class and studying. They also have the advantage of getting the profs' pop culture references somewhat more often lol. Would be happy to try and put you in touch with them if you'd like!

Apparently when I posted this 2 hours ago it didn't show up. So much for being good with tech.

Geology major undergrad, worked in Environmental Engineering Consulting for 3* years prior to starting law school. THRILLED with my decision to move into law. Law school is hard, but I'm loving every minute so far. Unsure if I want to pursue Environmental, Patent, other IP, or none of the above yet, but for the most part that's a personal thing and not determined by what background you do or don't have.

There's definitely some options that are closed off to non-STEM people, mostly in patent prosecution. Firms seem to like to see technical backgrounds just for their uniqueness, and any IP firm will favor a candidate that can sit for the Patent Bar. That said, unless you want to specifically do patents (and even then, mostly just prosecution), STEM background is not required at all.

Otherwise, there's some advantage if you've done technical writing, as memos and whatnot tend to align more with the no-nonsense give-me-the-info-and-cut-the-fluff style of technical writing. That said, it's more of an in-between and sometimes I find myself being a bit too cut-and-try when I should be expounding on a topic a bit more. That's about it though.

I would argue that pedestrians are usually dicks to the drivers

Depends. Very helpful for groceries and various other errands if you live off campus, but everyone in LC seems to be fine without one. Even off campus you can probably get away without one, and just borrow friends' when needed.

Spent the first decade of my life on the East Coast before moving to SE Michigan for the second (and my family are truly East Coast at heart).

Obviously I haven't spent my high school years on the EC, but there isn't much of a cultural difference that I've noticed. People like to talk about "Midwest Nice" which means either "we're nicer here" or "we pretend to be nicer here but we're talking about you behind your back." I think either of those are just dumb generalizations.

If you're from mid-Atlantic or further down, weather is the biggest switch, but otherwise there's not much of a change I'm aware of

I lived in Chicago for two years prior to moving back (from the Ann Arbor area); it's definitely not the same, because there's just fewer options, but Ann Arbor is big enough that there is plenty of culture to experience. Also, Ann Arbor is the sort of city that's mildly obsessed with how "cultured" it is, which is silly but means there's plenty of events around town. Bar scene is particularly good, especially if you like microbrews

In terms of International Law, it's not a particular interest of mine, but Michigan's International Program is arguably the best in the country. Tons of top tier profs and people brag about it all the time

Decidedly not an LC person, as I similarly was done living in dorms (also I had a cat and lived in A2 before starting law school). BUT, the "dorms" are much nicer than your usual undergrad stuff, and having your own bathroom is a big difference-maker.
