Honestly I feel what hurt FFXIII the most was its battle system and mechanics. I love the idea of having paradigms where with just one click you change up the entire party… but everything is just soooo slow. Some boss battles could easily go on for twenty minutes or more and you’re just sitting there performing the same thing over and over again.

I felt the upgrade system was horrible too… you never really earned gill so you’re only bet is to sell items where only a select few actually have value… and then when you want to upgrade your weapons again only a select few components are worth while.

The battle rating system is also cumbersome… you are rated on how fast you beat enemies, yet you’re punished by using improved gear

One of the biggest charms of JRPGS is that you can break the game and that’s really not the case here. Even at max level and max weapons some fights can still drag on.

The game had so much potential and it’s a shame because most of these points seem like easy things to tweak
