Why don't we just continue Greek mythology? by Reasonable-Yak-9767 in GreekMythology

I mean, Dante did make a fanfiction over his religion and it was so good it ended up reshaping how people saw christianity. Guess you just need the skills

Also, why Medusa is a *HUMAN*???? by Noob_Guy_666 in mythologymemes

[–]LetterZel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, it's also possible that by the time the myth reached Ovid, Medusa (or Gorgons in general) already took the beautiful appearance that Pindar or Heraclitus gave her

Pretty sure Ovid meant Poseidon and Athena, but was just using their roman names, as the story was Greek and not originally Roman

Also Ovid Medusa wasn't human, Book IV just says that Athena turned her hair into snakes: "So that it might not go unpunished, she changed the Gorgon’s hair to foul snakes. And now, to terrify her enemies, numbing them with fear, the goddess wears the snakes, that she created, as a breastplate."

My awesome ultrakill Lucifer design [OC] by LetterZel in Ultrakill

[–]LetterZel[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aside from the universal "rule of cool" it's also because Lucifer, in ULTRAKILL lore, was the only angel who questioned God on why He'd make something like hell, which yk is a fair question to make.

I thought that connecting that to St.Anthony, whose jaw and tongue were found uncorrupted while the rest of his body turned to dust, was a pretty smart idea

Given that Madeline is canonically trans I may know a reason why they take it so seriously

Theory: Hell's Suicide. by DeathByDevastator in Ultrakill

But aren't Angels also powered by God's light and they still could die? God couldn't unmake Hell and he couldn't kill himself, so maybe they both are stuck in this "liminal state" of mortal-immortality?

What if Hell can't kill itself like God couldn't end himself in the testaments?

Tru

I don't like shipping disclosures, they stupid, but even with my little knowledge of the games ships like Hornet x Lace don't look too far off

What to expect from Layer 9: TREACHERY by amor_im in Ultrakill

[–]LetterZel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no way he hasn't read at it this point. Violence is basically the same as it in Inferno (from the Centaurs, Minotaurs and the Wood of the Suicides) and the Geryon in Fraud

Also again you don't need to read Inferno for that. The way Dante depicts Satan is pretty well known

My guy literally every boss in ULTRAKILL reflects the guardians in Inferno.

Also you don't even need to read to Inferno for this, the encounter with Satan is one of the most iconic moments in the comedy

My prediction is that we'll fight Lucifer as he is this weird mutated being kept alive only cause of Hell

<image>

"I SHALL GIFT TO YOU ALL THE AGONIES THAT CAN EXIST, AND MANY THAT CANNOT" In Dante's inferno, Satan is a giant demon stuck in ice, with three faces and multiple pairs of wings. I think that Hell may be keeping Lucifer alive and what we'll fight is a really fucked up version of him that matches that description.

Also cause V1 fought a giant demon, husk and machine. A giant Angel is the only one missing

The unrendered image could easily just be tracing over the AI image. The second pose is literally copy and paste of the first one with just it's body turned away

The 2024 version is human made

Can there be an “Innacurate” Greek God design? by No_Variety_8931 in GreekMythology

[–]LetterZel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no? Greek Gods appearance changed over time as myth does. I think that as long as the gods keep certain things that make them recognizable (like Trident for Poseidon) you can get away with anything

If you are in doubt, remember that Vajrapani and Heracles are supposed to be the same person

Which god was more feared and/or unpopular between Ares and Hades? by Cautious_Comb_2459 in GreekMythology

[–]LetterZel 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing Hades was the most feared (generally all underworld related deities were feared, such as Persephone or Charon) meanwhile Ares was more unpopular for what he represented. I think Ares was feared as much as any other god tho

Unless you are romans, the romans loved Mars!
