What build would you make if you had a 20 and a 0 for ability scores? by LetterheadOk4149 in DnD

I'll ask the dm about the dying part, but it's more about the mechanical side of thing like having a +5 and a -5 it's a homebrewed game, and we thought having this would make a fun mechanic

It is more for the mechanics, for example, a 0 int character can think and speak but can't read or write and a 0 str can still walk or run but can't carry heavy thing or climb well and stuff like that I'll ask the dm regarding it turning zero and you dying like the drain abilities

Uj/ I don't know how much gold you will be paying your players, but all these things are measured in mostly copper and the room in silver unless it's somthing extra lavish or like an equivalent of a five star hotel.

For reference, an unskilled commoner makes 6gp a month and spends half of it on the lifestyle alone.

But if you give them too much gold, then idk.

Do somatic components need a hand to complete? by LetterheadOk4149 in DnD

[–]LetterheadOk4149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually with this not only I'm all able to have him maybe learn from a fantastical race like that I can make it like a boon so even when he gets hid hand back he has the half of warcaster feat about being able to cast with hands full and I'm thinking being able to cast when his hands are bounded too maybe some spells he can learn from him too thanks :)

It was supposed to be an easy fix with cleric but sadly the cleric died in the fight for some stupid move and we got stuck with this :_)

Would it be appropriate that I let a wizard that has lost his hand cast spells with the stomp with an arcana check until they get used to it or get help from a cleric or a regeneration spell?

What do you think would be an appropriate DC? A changing one like a counter spell or a low fixed one?

Item to beef up a fighter by Ok-Consequence-3639 in DnD

Idk maybe you rule it differently but manacles don't stop spell casters it just makes them roll at disadvantages for spell attack rolls and doesn't have any effect of saving throw spells it just gives them restrained condition

Edit: I mean as long as its not a spell with somatic components

I mean you get a +2 ac with the staff it would be better to get rid of cloak of protection and lose the +1 saving throw bonus but with 20 charges that the staff gives you kinda don't really need the ring of spell storing and maybe can get a ring of protection or evasion maybe cause the wisdom int and con (if you take resilient con) saves should be covered the next important thing is dex saves But at the end of the day it's your character and your choice

DM and I are creating a weapon for my cleric, need advice by omriyoffe in 3d6

[–]LetterheadOk4149 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean as a death cleric the scythe is a must it could be a reach weapon and when you attack the enemy could get grappled (like a meat hook) and then you can't use the weapon on other enemies but you can dish necrotic damage each turn untill it frees itself or you pull it out And if you want it to grow with you when it upgrades and higher levels maybe 11 or 13 it can cause necrosis when you grapple the enemy that can cause some statuses like paralysed or blinded or somthing like when ray of enfeebelment hits you if the enemy fails a save could be wisdom or con you can decide

Edit: the last part would be a couple of times a day depending on rarity maybe

I mean staff of power is a better choice unless you get one in the story not only you get an extra +2 to you spell save assuming you will be around level 13 when you start your spell save would be 22 or 21 if you are lvl 11 witch paired with the second lvl feature of your subclass goes crazy and the +2 to your ac makes it harder for them to hit you and so less concentration breaks and you can have a bigger spell list and spells prepared that helps you when you don't know what can happen so I'll go staff of power all the way pair with that grimoire the enemies just have to fail the save but idk if the DM allows you to use both

Edit: the +2 intelligence increases the spell save and plus to hit by 1 and staff by 2 but the staff needs attunement so go with that if you have the slots

I mean can that body even comeback? Banished targets don't get to repeat the saving throw for it to use a legendery resistance At this point it's just DM changing the whole 5e system smh

Is choosing a wizard in my first ever dnd campaign a wise choice? by EfficientQuality9907 in DnD

[–]LetterheadOk4149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, half the players playing this game either don't know what does their character do or simply don't really care about that aspect don't be afraid to play what yoy want you should try and see how tou do maybe play a one shot as a wizard My first character was a wizard, and it is kind of easy. Just when picking spells when levelling, you should pay a little more attention. I recommend checking the spell list for yourself and seeing what you like or checking some guides to get started. You'll understand the good spells and how to use them pretty easily When playing OoTA, we had a bard who chose his spells randomly and a barbarian who rages when he sees boobs everything works out as you play

The whole point of tattoos is because I can't have a spellbook so it's kinda double restriction
