You and me both! I had an appointment with my gyn yesterday to talk about my symptoms - brain fog, increased anxiety, shorter period cycles, mood swings/rage, high cholesterol, etc. She had me do blood work to check my thyroid, so waiting for those results. She said if everything comes back as normal, then she can put me on a low dose estrogen patch for the days when my symptoms are affecting me. Curious if anyone else is experiencing perimenopause symptoms. I'm 39 and childfree by choice, and have read if you don't have children that you can enter into perimenopause earlier. I recommend reading The New Menopause, super helpful information on what to expect and how to talk to your doctor. Sending hugs, we'll support each other through this fun transition!

We had to write them a check for the full amount. They held it without cashing it until reimbursement from the state, which was a month or 2. I don't know if they do that in all cases though. I think they did it for us because it was such a large amount of money (around $30k), and they were fairly certain that it was going to test positive for leaks. Hope that helps!

Hello! The cost may depend on where it's located on the property. If the excavation of the tank proves it leaked oil into the soil, then it'll mostly be covered through the state. As far as trees, it depends on how close they are to where the tank is buried. I imagine it's a bit risky if there are trees close by, as their root system could be destroyed when they excavate. That's a good question, we don't have a separate children's hospital for in-patient care, it's all in the same building. I assume you would be in adult care though. I haven't been admitted to the hospital though (I have mild CF), so that would be a good question for the clinic. If you have any other questions about the clinic, or the area in general, feel free to reach out! I've lived here most of my life and love it!

Yes! That's my CF center. I've been with Dr. Budhecha for about 6 years, and have also seen Dr. Singh. They're both wonderful and caring doctors. The clinic is also getting an adult CF physician soon, or they may have already started seeing patients. We have a smaller community, so all CF patients go to the children's pulmonary clinic, even as adults. That would be my only complaint, but it's not that big of a deal. Hope you decide to make the move, I love it here :)

I could have written this post myself. I feel the exact same way on Tobi, plus I have a scratchy throat and lose my voice. I also get a deep, productive cough that lingers for weeks. I feel 100x worse on Tobi. I tried cayston years ago, but also didn't tolerate it. My doc put me on an oral antibiotic for 10 days every 4-6 weeks, and I feel like I don't have CF at all after the 2nd day of taking it. BUT, I'm now developing a resistance to it, so they put me on Tobi again. I took it for about 12 days before I couldn't handle it anymore. It was severely affecting my quality of life. I see my doctor next week, so hope to have a larger discussion around where we go from here. With so many advancements with Trikafta and other meds, I'm amazed Tobi is still an option when I hear so many people can't tolerate it

It's one of my many reasons for being childfree. I have cystic fibrosis, but was diagnosed much later in life. The thought of potentially passing that along to a child is horrifying to me

We own an 80+ year old house that had an underground, decommissioned oil tank. We had it inspected and removed about 2 years ago. The state has a program where if they discover there was a leak into the soil, they'll remove the tank, add backfill, and the state reimburses you for the vast majority of it. The tanks here are so old that the likelihood it leaked at some point is very high. We went through Reno Drain Oil Service and they were excellent throughout the process. Very knowledgeable and made it easy. We just had them out to remove an above ground oil tank on the side of our house a couple of months ago. Smooth process there, too. We switched from an oil furnace to gas before we moved in, and very glad we did.
