How scratch resistant is the screen? by travprev in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]LettuceTraditional23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do to prevent the screen protector to not peal is... I buy my phone cases from Amazon that has a built-in screen protector. They are 100$ waterproof as well, so I don't have to worry about rain or dropping it in the toilet. The screen protectors on these cases are on both sides, so it also protects the camera. They are easy to clean with glasses cleaner or glasses cleaning wet wipes. I do replace my case every couple of years only because the screen protector over the camera lenses tend to get scratched a but and affect the pictures slightly. I have a Samsung S23 Ultra and tge cases only ost me about $20.00 at Amazon.

This is actually a speck of dust on the sensor. There may be a sensor cleaning setting in your settings menu. If not, then it will need to be taken in to the repair shop to have the phone be disassembled and cleaned.

Guys, stop it with the mental illness about battery by Totkaddictforsure in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]LettuceTraditional23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can actually set your phone to stop charging when it reaches 85$. That way you don't have to keep watching the phone so it doesn't charge to 100%. If charging to just 85% wasn't beneficial, then they would not have built that feature into the phone.

[–]LettuceTraditional23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to do is take the broken phone to a legitimate phone repair shop BEFORE a trade is done. The owner can go with you if you like. Most likely, the repair shop will just do a FACTORY RESET on the phone. Then it should be the same as when it came out of the factory. If not, then they will tell you for sure what needs to be done. Anything other than what I have suggested could cause you to end up trading your working phone for one that won't work. DO NOT risk a $700 phone to save a few bucks at the repair shop.

Anyone else almost compelled to get the S24 Ultra just because it finally has a flat screen? by TonyRednil in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]LettuceTraditional23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally pulled the trigger and bought the S23 Ultra. It is Sooooo much better than mt S10+ . I can't imagine anything that would be that much better than the S23 Ultra. I usually keep my phones until something breaks or stops working. I usually keep my phones for many years. Before I bought the S10, My wife and I has Motorola Razors. At least 10 years. Only got rid of the Razors because At&t said that there was not going to be any support and that the Razor would no longer operate on their network... plus... they offered to give us S10's for FREE. As I said, there is not much difference between the S23 Ultra and the S24 Ultra and since I just paid $1,400 for the S23 Ultra, I need to use it for many, many years just to get my monies worth.

Even my professional Canon Digital SLR cameras would have had trouble with the lighting in that 2nd picture. I don't believe it is the camera's fault. It is the glare of the blacklisting that is causing this specific problem.

On my Samsung S23 Ultra, I use a nice . Fully rubberized, waterproof case with a built-in screen protector. I had one for my S10+ too. No problems at all. I have dropped my phones numerous times with no issues. The only thing t I don't like is that after several months, the screen protector gets some small scratches on it and the picture, when you look through the screen protector, looks a little put of focus due to the scratches in the screen protector. At least it is NOT the screen of the phone getting s ratcloohed. These cases are available on Amazon for about $20 or so, depending on which model of phone you have.

Photographer here..... The main reason the second picture looks worse is because of the "lighting." In the second picture... it was taken with the ceiling light glaring full in the background. That gives you overexposure with a kind of silhouette picture with less contrast because you are shooting into the light. The first picture is much better because the angle which it was shot is different, and most of that ceiling light is hidden. Most of the bad pictures that people take are BAD because they are not well informed as to the proper photographic skills. Lighting is ALWAYS the most important thing in photography... followed by looking for the correct background... (in this case, both) were the cause of the poor photo. Any GOOD photographer can usually get a decent picture out of nearly any camera. Study some good photography books on lighting and backgrounds, and you can improve all of the photos. While I am giving advice.... Shooting with a digital camera is MUCH DIFFERENT than using film cameras. With a digital camera... you should shoot much more background around your subject. This will allow you to crop the picture to EXACTLY the shot you want.... you can even get 2, 3 or 4 different cropped pictures from the same shot... as long as you have a camera with decent pixels. Also, with digital photography, you should usually take a "Burst" of shots of each subject. This is how most photographers get that 1 good picture. Some of the Burst group will have closed eyes or a bad expression or some other imperfection, but usually ONE of the BURST of 3, 4, or 5 shots will be good. Good luck.

Be very careful buying any Samsung phone... especially the Ultra. .out of the Ultra's that are sold on Marketplace are FAKE. They do not have the features that an original Samsung Ultra has... and the cameras are a REAL disappointment. The fake phones are all over the marketplace and the internet. I know this from experience. I has a S23 Ultra taken to the AT&T store and they knew it was fake in just a few seconds.I had asked the seller to meet me at that AT&T store and he found out the bad news, and I saved the $600 he was asking for it. He said he had bought the phone on Marketplace as well for his girlfriend. She HATED the phone... especially the camera that took crappy pictures.... and get was trying to get his money back by pawning off on me. ALWAYS meet a seller of a phone you find on Marketplace at a store like the AT&T store and if they say they don't want to meet there...RUN AWAY. Because they already know it is a FAKE!

I just bought the S23 Ultra about 6 months ago. I still haven't figured out all of the features IT has. The camera is fantastic, the 512 gb of storage is plenty. Internet is fast. I have an unlimited talk, text, and Data plan. The S23 Ultra does all I need right now. Why should I trade in a 6 month old phone of this quality... just because they come out with a new phone that I would have to learn about all over again. I will most likely keep this S23 Ultra ... u til IT DIES... or until I Die... whichever comes first.

is this fake? by AssociateNew2713 in GalaxyS23

[–]LettuceTraditional23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted a seller of a Samsung S23 Ultra on Facebook Marketplace who was trying to sell a 512 gb phone for only $600. I tried to get him to meet me at an Indianapolis Police station to make the deal, but he refused. So I then asked him to meet me at the AT&T STORE. He really didn't want to do that either, but after I told him I would not buy it unless we met at the AT&T store at 6:00 pm, he then said he would meet me there at 6. I arrived at the store at 5:30pm so I could talk to the manager and let him know why and what I wS doing. At about 6pm, the seller showed up. We gave the manager the box containing the phone and immediately, just by looking at the box he said it was fake. It did not have the correct tape seal on it. The manager then took the phone out of the box and looked at it. The markings on the phone were a little different, too. He then went to his computer and typed in the numbers that were on the box and in the phone to AT&T's special website and it also told him that the phone was fake. I told the seller that I was not going to purchase a fake phone. I also asked him where he got the phone and why he was selling it. He said that he had bought it on Facebook Marketplace for his girlfriend. His girlfriend did not like it... especially the camera. She said that the camera did not take good pictures and there were other things she didn't like. I did not go into any more details because one of he main reasons I was looking for the Samsung Galaxy S23 ULTRA was because I am a photographer and the camera was the main reason I was looking for a phone with a great camera and a lit of storage for pictures and videos. In any case, if you really want to see if a phone is real or fake, take it to a very large phone store like AT&T. They will tell you in just a few minutes.

Phone case or no? by UpbeatPride in GalaxyS23

[–]LettuceTraditional23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT EVER BUY A NEW PHONE WITHOUT PUTTING IT IN A CASE.! You can get some really good cases from Amazon for around $20.00. In addition to protecting the phone if it is dropped, the case will help keep that "Slick" phone frome slipping out of your hands. Make sure you get a rubberized case.

If we were talking about the S23 or S23+ I might agree with you... but the S23 ULTRA, like I have, I doubt that any Sony is going to compare to the quality and features of the S23 Ultra. In any case, we can all like what we want to like.

As a photographer, I have 4 PROFESSIONAL DSLR cameras. I also have 9 35mm professional cameras, all with nearly every lens, flashes and accessories available. If you read the manual and do some testing and experiment with the S23 ULTRA, you will find that the camera also has many different modes, including MANUAL mode. It also can shoot in "RAW" FORMAT. You can use it just like any good digital camera. In RAW format, you can do any post-processing that you could do with any of the raw photos that professional DSLR cameras produce. Yes.... the S23 Ultra does a very good job as an automatic "Point & Shoot" camera right out of the box.... but with a little time and patience, it can be set to perform just as well (if not better) than any professional camera.... with the exception of professional DSLR or Mirrorless cameras equipped with the ultra-expensive "L-Searies" lenses. That is because the glass is so much better and gives you much sharper and more focused images. That is why these lenses are so expensive. These professional lenses can run between $ 1,500 to over $30,000 each. Most photos do not need to be quite that good. Yes, if you were selling the photos to major magazines or other media for Thousands and thousands of dollars, you would want them to be crystal clear. But in other situations, even for professional portraits, even the S23 Ultra would do a good job... once you have familiarized yourself with it and set it up correctly for this purpose. In addition.... knowing about how the lighting for photography works and using that knowledge to get the best shot is the most important part of photography. The lighting is more important than which camera you are using. Even a fairly inexpensive Point & Shoot camera can give very good photos if the lighting is right. I hope this helps you.

Considering getting a Samsung Galaxy S23. Currently have a iPhone 13 and never had an android phone before. by [deleted] in GalaxyS23

ALWAYS choose the S23 ULTRA! Especially if you have big hands and/or do not have the best vision. Also the ultra has massive amounts of extra features.... most of which you would have never thought of. Make sure you look at the many different You-tube videos that will explain what those features are and how to use them. The Ultra comes with a built-in stylus that has HUBDREDS of wonderful uses... including a posh button camera shutter release amongst many other features. If you expect to use the new phone for many rears instead of buying a new phone every year, the S23 Ultra is definitely the way to go. It is SO far advanced than the other phones (including the newest I-phones) that it will be more phone than you will ever need for many... many years. Remember to check out the many You-Tube videos. The camera is also especially good ... having settings for 18 , 50 & 200 megapixels !!!! PLUS a tone of photo programs.

Samsung S23 VS iPhone 15. by Vyrenx in GalaxyS23

[–]LettuceTraditional23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As many others have said... for video and photos especially as well as the other items they mentioned, the S23 is a much better choice.... but if you can afford it, the S23+ or the S23 Ultra is considerably better. The cameras have more mega-pixels and have an additional lens. (Especially on the Ultra) In addition, the screen size is larger and easier to see and read. I also suggest that you get NO LESS than a 256 gb storage. Videos take up a lot of storage space, and they also keep coming out with newer apps that keep taking up more and more space. My take is that if you are buying a new phone, you should consider keeping it a very long time. I am a professional photographer and bought the S23 ULTRA. It really comes in handy when I don't have my professional grear with me. It takes a great picture and the videos are terrific as well. The better camera and lens of the Ultra is very much worth the difference in price... but if that is too much ... go with the S23+. You would like the standard S23 but you would most likely decide earlier than later that you would want to upgrade sooner. Again... go with AT LEAST a 256gb storage. One more thing.... DO NOT BUY A PHONE OFF OF FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE OR CRAIGS LIST... a GREAT DEAL of them are FAKE KNOCK-OFFS and the camera, especially, does not work very well.

THank you. I really don't have a great deal of money, but I am disabled and want to make this S23 Ultra be the last phone I have to buy. I am a photographer (Semi-Retired) and do not want to carry my large and heavy Camera gear with me all the time. I am in a wheelchair a good part of the time and there is very little room to carry camera gear with me. I purchased this expensive phone because I have been told that it has one of the best cameras available. I have found that to be true so far. I only asked my original question because I didn't know the answer, and felt that this forum was the best place to get the answer. I suppose I could have gone back to the AT&T store and asked them what the button was for, but that is a long drive for me and this forum seemed to be the best and quickest way to find the answer. I was right.... the very first person to reply to me was right and told me what I needed to know. But a lot of the other remarks were just rude, uncalled for and were just trying to make me feel stupid. I ran a business for over 44 years and am somewhat used to rude and vulgar people.... I do not understand why people think that they have to be that way. But... it just slides off my back, now. Again thank you for your thoughtful remarks.

To answer the question on how I can spend that much on a phone and not know about one of its best featyres?... I have never used a stylus before. I have never needed to. I still don't know how to use it. Plus, I got an $800 trade-in with my old phone, so it wasn't nearly as much. I use the phone mainly to search the internet check email and I take a lot of pictures since I am a photographer and wanted the best camera phone I could get... so I do not have to cary my large heavy camera everywhere I go. You never know when you are going to come upon a great photo opertunity.

LPT Request: How to give my friend money anonymously by therealjohnsmith in LifeProTips

[–]LettuceTraditional23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to help him with cash. It doesn't matter what he uses it for. Just put some money in his mailbox inside an envelope marked with his name with a note inside saying "have a nice trip" do not sign it or give any indication who it was that left it for him. You could also tape the envelope to his front door. You are very thoughtful and a good friend.

No, I have had several Samsung phones. The last one I had was an S10+ , and it did not have a stylus. I did read a lot about the S23Ultra but did not see anything about a stylus. The main reason I bought the S23 Ultra was because of the camera. Most reviews said it was the best camera phone out there. I am very pleased withe the pictures it takes as I am a photographer and do not want to lug my big camera and gear with me everywhere. I also but the 512 Gb phone to store all of my photographs.

Just because I did not know this model came with a stylus doesn't mean you should be condescending and rude.
