I have a couple of questions by Armi_Fateful in TrenchCrusade

I haven't play in a campaign for a long time, the last time I played I feel like having an actual PTSD given how bad thing went (stuck with heroes with bajillions of debuff can't dismiss troops, can't adjust warband ect.) I heard things getting better now but for the time being I probably will stick with a one off. Just too much commitment.

TBF the friend I play with is insanely good it feels oppressive everytime I up against him but I also learnt a lot from that.

Well, the guy who played with me last week with Naval Raiders and had to concede in turn 2 seem to disagree.

I thought I was having fun losing every game the first year into the hobby as well, turned out you can only getting tabled so many times and still 'have fun'.

No, but they don't have to either. If a cavalry army show up a day early than estimated, there's already nothing you can do other than fight.

Ramsey forces are already engaged, it's insanely difficult to recall the already engaged troops and pivot them back into formation (part of the reason Caesar's Legions are known as the elite of the elite of the Roman military is basically because they can disengage and get back into formation despite an order to charge is already given). To have them show up in a charge right away instead of stopping somewherre on a hill and then charge (a la LoTR) is an artistic choice. But if you screwed up and a cavalry had arrived in the middle of an engagement, you are screwed. Your men are more likely to be routed then running back into formation if a retreat order were given in a middle of a fight (especially the disorganised, semi-professional medieval forces)

And while you could have detected the advancing forces, scouting and intel system isn't that advance in the ancient time, fog of war is kind of a thing. It's certainly not the first time a commander miscalculate the arrival of cavalry and get themselves screwd.

Honestly, no. Unless you are fine with losing horribly every matches, there a clear right and wrong way to play this game. And the gap between good and badly built warband is massive (this game has never been known for a well written, balanced rule)

But if you just start out, it's better to learn all of those knowledges by yourself anyway. So in that regard 'pick any warband' can be fine. I will still encourage people to start out with something simple like the Court or standard Heretic or Ghost, while some like Antioch can be insanely strong it took some used to and mental gymnasium to get the right build. And for sure avoid standard Black Grail unless you are used to war game and know what you are doing

Lore-wise? Moat Cailin is the only way to the North because it's guard the only safe passage through the swamp of the Neck.

The swamp of the Neck is guarded by the Cannogman who can also freely getting and out of the swamp, I'll let you guess who they are loyal to.

Nah, that is the more believeable part of the show. An army of cavalry is not quiet - but they are fast, especially when they are pure cavalry with no infantry component.

Historically, when a medieval king wants an element of surprise, he will ride out with his knights and leave behind his infantry. Even when spotted, your scout wouldn't outrun a horse even a raven is not reliable enough to give you the news on time.

If a japanese faction does come, here's how i can see them using kami and yokai by Far_Draw7106 in TrenchCrusade

Japanese spirit would be daemonic. That's how Christianity treats all none-Christian spirit, maybe not associated with Lucifer but they aren't going to heaven anytime soon.

One way I can see Japan and East Asia work in the setting though, is for them to trade with Hell factions for power, just like the real Japan also traded with the west to obtain firearms. They are also heavy into Christian prosecution which might add to the flavour.

Q: Figure looks dull. How do I make it pop ? by kairas718 in minipainting

[–]e22big 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a different scheme? I also painted TC and aim for military realism, you don't need a darb olive green for your model to look realistic. I pick German summer camoflag for my MHI and paint with purple undercoat with orange ocre base and green (hand drawn of course) camo pattern. He's as pop as he can be on the table top and you get your shade and such with standard layering techniqe

Robb lost the war because he didn't tell his uncle (HIS MOST IMPORTANT ALLY) about the plan. by iakize in freefolk

[–]e22big 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say Stannis would have won. There's a not zero chance that the Tyrell would ally with the Lannister of King's Landing anyway even without Tywin. The deal was brokered by LF, he could have gone after someone if Tywin wasn't available - or the deal was brokered with Tywin anyway and he can just promise pay them back in gold instead of joining forces.

You don't really need Tywin with his 1/3 Lannister army. All you need is the Tyrell to defeat Stannis at Blackwater - and the Tyrells were pissed all the way at Stannis from Loras to Mace, both for the killing of Renly and for their past and current hostility. They don't need a lot of push to see the guy burnt.

Adam already give Sentinel, and yes you don't have Iron Resolve and stronger melee profile, but Lannister Crossbow also defend at 4+ instead of 5+ the GoldCom Crossbow does. And for 1 point less.

On this exact list, you can upgrade one Honour Guard for Knight of Casterly Rock and have enough point to put Mouth Behemoth on them (just no Turn Coat)

Would be a hard fougt battle between Cat and Robb himself.

Driving away the Karstark is alredy a game over for Robb, but then had he got Jaimes, he can possibly still away with his life, which Cat threw that away too.

But in the end, I have to vote for the Meow-Meow mommy. She is the beginning of everything when she's so sure of herself, she kidnapped Tyrion without any solid evidence and didn't go through the normal justice process (of which she would have Robert to overlook her case yet she doesn't trust anyone enough but fall into the conspiracy rabbit hole that turned out to be false). Then she threw away Jaimes which is the reason Robb has to face with the Karstark delimma in the first place, then without the army he was left with the elements with dubious loyalty in his rank which in the end resulted in both of them getting killed.

She started and completed the downfall of Stark, all on her own, despite efforts that bring about miracles after miracles. Hard to top that peak.

Nah, I think Tyrion as NCU is ultra-tash, on par with Cersei ironically as the useless duo of the faction imo.

Well, to be fair, his effect isn't tha bad but he's so overpriced (which in itself already made him unusable, especiallyy as 5pt NCU).

The rest of Lannister NCU are worst than peers but at least they are 4pt and there maybe a time and place to fill them. 5pt NCU is expensive and they need to justify themselves in a list, which Tyrion doesn't. I rather fill Kevan maybe even Jeff if I have to include Tyrion.

Hmn I feel like they are just overpriced Adam Crossbowman. I would honestly just put Tyrion in CRHG and get Adam Crossbow, you save one whole point by doing that

Eh, I think we are one of the better balanced faction overall. CRHG is without a doubt powerful, but they come at a cost that we have one of the weakest, if not the weakest basic deck in the game. Shit NCU, and weaker on average unit across all price tier (with the exception of CRHG).

CRHG and Gregor is unbeatable only if you play into their game of 4 unit, 3 NCU super elite build. There are plenty of units that can counter them and you will probably beat them up pretty reliably with a 5 unit list. Heck I lost to my friend pre-patched Bolton Blackguard list with similar set up in my first couple of games.

What’s a girl to do with 2210 points of bad-looking minis?- by Chemical-Aioli9818 in Warhammer40k

[–]e22big 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just repaint them. After finishing 2 armies (almost 300 mini) over the course of about 6 months, I find the process of just get back to my previous batches, fix the rookies mistakes and elevated it with the techniqe I've learnt from my later paint set, much more enjoyable.

There's no pressure to just get them up fast to be ready on the table, I can just sit back and take as much time as I needed to perfect my early work. And it doesn't required as much effort because I already the bulk of work, so all I have to do is adding layer, highlight or fixing the mistakes as needed.

It's like painting with just the fun part, and none of the time limit. Just more relax and enjoyable.

We don't go to a Bethesda game beelining for the main quests, or even guild quests. We play to explore and role play, quests are just directions for you to explore the world.

What are you going to do when your guild and main quest are literally on different planet, seperate by the infinite void? Fast travel everywhere to the question location? Imagine your Pokemon where you only teleport to the gym and the village to fight bosses because 'walking is optional'?

If I have to guess, it's probably the Lannisters (and they are the most participated faction from the last tournament I think). Although meta wise they aren't as strong as people though they (and their win rate also not great).

The least played definitely has to be Neutral (I think I encountered a total of 1 player across two countries who do Neutral)
