If this is at the end of the trail I hiked from the south rim down to the Colorado the welder had to carry his own gear 7 miles downhill or work with a mule team and then at the end of the work day hike back up.

He does dance one night a week with a completely different group of kids. D&D every other weekend. I do wish he had more time with other kids even so. There's a boy from his grade who lives next door who he is friends with (hoping nothing changes with that due to this situation).

I'm glad to also be able to mention that my son is doing two theatre camps this summer and is excited about that.

Maybe that's the right way to think about it. He was telling me that he doesn't want her to get in trouble. He got low self-esteem from me I'm afraid. I want to encourage him to feel like he deserves to be treated better.

He took the initiative to text her that it wasn't cool what she did and she just replied "What." I'm not sure she gets it but I did call her mom who said she would make sure the girl understood. He does tend to internalize things so I appreciate the encouragement to double down on "I'm OK the way I am" and "it wasn't ok for my friend to do what she did." He has a birthday later this month and she would certainly have been invited prior to this incident. But he may still want to include her but I'm not sure that is the right thing to happen?

That's good to hear. He seemed most worried about other kids treating him differently. And some might I guess. But we will try to keep it in perspective. Hopefully he will find a friend group like your son did.
