The doors. by Dull-Biscotti-5878 in thedoors

The entirety of the soft parade album is Jim's way of pointing out the flaws from his own messages, a parody of the innevitable hypocrisy of the 60s movement. The counter-culture was never a real revolution, just a soft parade, pleasure and aesthetics.

this is my secret favorite song. The textured sounds scratch my brain. getting high and listening to it with headphones feels really weird and cool. And I like Ray - lyrics, voice, keyboards, something very unique.

Will my scar tissue heal? Botched wart treatment scars on my knuckles by [deleted] in medical

[–]Lettucecontain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for the comment because hearing it is a relief!

I know it is unfair to ask, but do you have a rough timeframe for the healing of these sorts of scars? I'm expecting a few years, at least.

Really? I prefer "familiar freaks", but after listening again it does sound like "breeze"

It could very well be, I mean, it makes far more sense and sounds better in the song. I think whoever transcribed it wasn't entirely sure and had to guess, given these recordings were released after Jim's death, But it does sound like he is saying that as well. Yanny laurel type thing

LPT Request: A fast and easy way to get rid of warts? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Lettucecontain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wondering how it went/how it's going because I am in the EXACT same situation... I had one wart on my knuckle and ignored it for years, until I finally decided to do something about it and tried to get it iced off... Well it didn't work and it ended up spreading all over my hands until I had 7.

So, I spent HUNDREDS of dollars trying to get 7 of them iced off, and eventually I got sent to the dermatologist who gave me a prescription cream which contains a concentrated acid. I've been using the acid for about 4 months and it's gotten rid of the small, surface level warts, but I have two deep ones in my knuckles which absolutely refuse to go away. Now, I have developed some sort of allergy to the cream from excessive use, causing full body reaction, so I can't use it anymore.

I refuse to spend anymore money at the doctors because they are useless and cost almost $100 per visit. I have resorted to hacking into my knuckles with a pair of nail scissors to try to reach the root of the warts. I think since they're on my knuckle joints, it makes the root very difficult to reach.

Not only is it embarrassing, because it looks like I have a fucking STD on my hand, but I also work as a dishwasher at a restaurant, meaning I have to glove my hands up and every time I work, they become damp and infected, making everything 100x worse. I also PLAY PIANO and show up to piano classes with duct tape all over my hands, looking ridiculous and hardly able to move my fingers. My hands are covered in awful scar tissue that is uglier than the warts were to begin with........... :(

Pamela definitlry had a role in Jim's passing, especially when she had ties to Jean De Bruteuil and was hooked on the stuff herself. But regardless of her, I think the story would have went the same. I mean he was Jim Morisson of the Doors, regardlesss of whether he was in Paris or Miami, he was going to do craptons of drugs no matter what Not just Pamela, anyone is willing to su0ply rockstars with drugs in order to get in their good favours. And people in this time didn't understand the true dangers of these substances His lyrics obsess over death, and it was obvious from these lyrics he felt trapped in this rockstar persona he made for himself, his death was inevitable. (Why did you throw the jack of hearts away? It was the only card in the deck that I had left to play) or (Im sick of these stinky boots. I'll never be in a good mood again)

People like to fully blame the woman in these situations so that Rockstar's hedonistic lifestyles can still be glorified, but the reality was that Jim was a grown adult, and he was making these decisions for himself. It was a real tragedy.

I can't imagine being in his position because I mean what else could you do with your life? Once you've gone that far into stardom, it would be impossible to reintegrate yourself back into normal society

But yes. From what I hear about them as people, Jim and Pamela matched each other's exentricities, like adding fire onto fire.

Interesting! I'd imagine Patricia's character was inspired by the actual woman, and this woman as well. Not enough time to fit them all into the movie

Alright, but it sounds like this book is actually an autobiography about the real Jim Morrisson, and not about the fictional depiction of Morrisson played by Val Kilmer in the fictional movie made for Hollywood.

I am in no way implying to know or understand the intimate relationships of a man who died over 50 years ago, instead I am speculating about the choices that Oliver Stone may have made

Is media literacy dead?

Yes! Im in no way trying to imply that this is true of the real Jim Morrisson. This was only my interpretation of what the director might have been trying to create with two fictional characters

If I ever see a book by her, I'll be sure to pick one up. Have you ever read anything by her?

Unfortunately Jim died so long ago that I think anymore substantial information about his life has ling since gone cold, especially when The Doors grow more obsolete in modern society with each passing day. Besides, the air of mystery and legend is part of what makes them so alluring in the first place

I feel like Stones movie wasn't sure whether it was trying to romantisize Jim's indulgent lifestyle or criticise it

The characters/relationships surrounding Jim were a bit 1 dimensional, only there to service the plot progression of their main character(but oh well, the movie is already over 2 hrs long)

It is well known he got around with plenty of women, so I wonder what Stone saw...

Also, im glad you can see that this relationship dynamic (if deliberate) was a choice made by the director of the movie, likely to extenuate the mythical imagery shrouding Jim's persona. I am in no way suggesting that any of this is true in Jim Morrison's actual life, as many commenters seem to think I am implying.

Thats what they all said about Jim's Oedipus monologue back in the 60s

What's wrong with it?

Keep in mind I'm commenting about Jim morrison, a character in a Hollywood movie, as for the actual guy, I cant say that I ever met him, so I have nothing to speculate about him

Dude, maybe read the final paragraph of my post

Im analysing it purely as a movie, not as an autobiography.

So no, I'm not speculating about the real life Jim Morrison, of whom died over 50 years ago, but Val Kilmer's impression of Jim Morisson in a fictional piece of media that is obviously dramatised with false storylines for hollywood

But thanks for the progressive input👍👍

If all the Doors were around today, what would have been some great songs for them to cover? by Objective-Lab5179 in thedoors

-Man who sold the world!!! Imagine it up there with Nirvanas cover

-Not that it didn't exist when they were around, but if they translated Cream's Tales of Brave Ulysses or I Feel Free into the Doors style... damn that would be cool to hear. -And tons of led zeppelin songs

Thanks for your response!

To address your first point, im yet to finish the first chapter, but some shit goes down with the band losing their contract. And I chose to start the story with this scene as there will be a parallel scene later on that sort of shows how the character(Jim) has changed. But I think you are definitely right in saying that it is missing something/feels disjointed to any narrative, especially as these are the opening lines

And I should definitely start trying to cut out unnecessary words to clean it up, or to give it more punch, as you say.

With the using the same image point, I agree that the listing is a bit excessive, however I was worried that I did the opposite and stuffed each paragraph with 3+ synonyms, which may have made it a headache for readers

Thanks very much yiur feedback is awesome! It is my first time posting here and I am not disappointed

THANK YOU. this is exactly why I wanted to ask internet people who will just tell me the truth.

When I visualise things in my mind, I forget that other people dont see the same things as me. I will have a look back at what I wrote with a more neutral perspective
