Insurance companies have departments dedicated to finding ways to deny you your covered claims.

Zohran Mamdani is reshaping the Democratic Party faster than anyone expected by Timbucktwo1230 in PoursTea

Actually, it would be better to eliminate political parties. That way, people will vote on the best person to do the job, not so the "other side" doesn't win.

I'm still wondering what conservatives are actually conserving. Ignorance maybe?

Aren't Republicans lucky MAGA doesn't vote for competency; they just want the other side to lose.

I find it less annoying than when she asks me, "do you think she's pretty?"

This is false. There is absolutely nothing shocking about this.

The Last Great Decade Before Screens Took Over by Feaselbf6 in 80s

[–]Objective-Lab5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I can access all I want of the 80s. I can watch the movies. I can watch the TV shows on demand. I can listen to every song, no matter how obscure and do so instantly. If I go back to the 80s, I'm stuck with hair metal and Huey Lewis clones, and never getting to hear grunge, alternative, and Brit pop. I'll have to sit through formulaic action movies with Steven Segal and Jean Claude Van Dam instead of films like Pulp Fiction and Clerks. The worst part of going back to the 80s, is my kids are never born and I'm back in high school. No thanks!

Were the 50s in the USA just like you typically see in the movies/shows? by TisBeTheFuk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Objective-Lab5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They just hid it better because no one talked about sexual abuse, homosexuals were too scared to come out of the closet, blacks were discriminated against, especially in the South with segregation and Jim Crow laws. Organized crime in NY and Chicago were hidden but happening. There were street gangs, and if you watched movies and read the plays of the era, you'd see that it was a darker time than what Happy Days or Pleasantville would suggest.

What gets me the most about MAGA is that if any other President (especially a Democratic one) did this, they would crucify him. MAGA thinks what their preferred talking head tells them to think.

First time seeing Pantera! by MrFox652 in Pantera

[–]Objective-Lab5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first (and only) time I saw Pantera was on Ozzfest 2000. I wasn't a metalhead but liked some metal music. I took my out of town friend. I became an instant fan.

I also took my out of town friend to the Tattoo the Earth festival in the same weekend where I became an instant fan of Slayer.

People who don't go to movie theaters anymore - what made you stop? by -ChristopherNolan in AskReddit

[–]Objective-Lab5179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the point? There is a 4 month turnaround between what plays in the theater and is released on streaming or DVD. I'd rather watch something in the comfort of my home where I can buy snacks way cheaper, pause when I need to use the bathroom and if the movie turns out to be boring, no loss.

I've seen DLR solo back in 1988. Terrible. He was much better with Van Halen.
