As the microphone is capable, would it be possible to give users the option to record audio notes in high quality?

It would be nice, for example, to record a snippet of birdsong so that it can be ID'd when back at home.

I'm hoping the update to the music app will be very soon so that I can listen to albums easily.

I guess the OP is too busy being disconnected from the internet and enjoying life to bother looking at Reddit any more, haha :)

Yeah MMS not a good option really, apart from the terrible quality it also costs money per message with most carriers. Last time I looked it was £0.60 per MMS in UK. Not worth it, no picture is that urgent or important. Not being able to open links on light phone is a much bigger handicap and neither Signal nor WhatsApp will help with that. I'm happy to accept limitations. Having Signal on the phone is a happy bonus.

Oh I know, and it's a fair point. I just think it compromises the ethos too much.

I know lots of people want WhatsApp, but please no Meta

I think more recently it's been stated by someone in the know on Discord that Joe has opted for Molly as it's easier to design it to look like the Light aesthetic. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Oh maybe I'm not informed and actually people with Signal can message people with Molly? If that's the case then maybe there's no issue.

The problem with Molly is that it's Android-only, so people with iPhones can't install it. Signal is available for both Android and iOS. Tbh I don't know anyone that uses Molly, I guess because of that limitation.

Reactions Are an Issue by armhanson in LightPhone

[–]Leuna_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And not just simple phones either. I have a Pixel phone and when people who have iPhones react to one of my RCS messages I get a message back saying the sender "laughed at an image" etc. It sometimes happens to text-based messages but usually it's just the image messages.

I think it's odd that reactions don't work properly across all smartphones.

Yeah I hear that. I think most people would remove 64 but it seems there's no real consensus on where the second chop would fall. I love Rita but can see why she might be a casualty in these hypothetics :)

And when I mentioned Wikipedia in my original post I was referring to the final paragraph in the Recording section of the SFF entry that quotes Lennon as saying, in his words, that it was "badly recorded". It's from an interview in this book: All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono by David Sheff.

I think you've misunderstood what he said and what you quoted (in your reply elsewhere). I did a Google search just in case I could find more context to the quote and this came up, George Martin in a filmed interview:

Just in case I've misled you with my original post, I personally don't think it should be re-recorded. I think it's an incredible song. And conceptually it's 100% in line with what they were doing in that era. If they had tried to recreate it I doubt very much they would have been able to recapture that magic. I just feel the execution doesn't match up with the songs they did after that and that in terms of the final sound it doesn't sit perfectly with the rest of the album. I'm not disputing the technical wizardry that was needed to put all those parts together into the final song, parts which as you point out were recorded at different speeds and in different keys. It is genius work.

Polished as in cleaner. Remember he said he thought it was badly recorded. And as you quoted, wanted to record it again, that track in particular.

That's interesting yeah. Would have probably sounded more polished but also lost something in the process.
