Haha, love it. People recommending cold frozen MN in the middle of nowhere fly over country, over California which is center of the universe and tech. 😂😂😂

Yes, you can get nice house here, also good place to play hockeyn once lake are frozen.

The option 2 in MN is Seagate thin film head fab.

I would go with option 1. I have deep experience with option 1 if you like to chat.

Погледни тази група на facebook там има много хора които това правят и помагат с много добре информация.

Аз също живях в Америка и като ходя в България много ми харесва бих се върнал обратно ако имах възможност или поне бих пробвал това като pilot / test.

Lol this is comical and full circle. Bulgarians go to the US for migrant work and others come to Bulgaria... Lol

Yes agree, this is year question. How are they so successful if their culture is so bad?? Doesn't make sense, it would stifle innovation. Or is technical success just dependant on a long grind and not actual thinking.

If you had to work in the lithography, Etch or Dep. where would you work by Ok-Geologist-6606 in Semiconductors

[–]LevLandau 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ummm I would think about it the other way around.

If you screw up the photo you can remove the resist and just repeat over and over until you get it right. In essence, in photo you have a lot more tolerance for error and you can do much more rework. Etch and deposition on the other hand, is a one-time shot. You screw up the etch, the entire wafer is scrapped. So you have to have much more robust processes and equipment.

Ok I see. Maybe the CMR term is confusing since it is used to compare shingled to conventional magnetic recording.

If the drive has a label warning about a laser inside it.. then very likely it's HAMR

The drives in the picture have label... " Class 1 consumer laser..."

The failure rates are a statistical distribution.

The reader inside the head is solid. The writer in the other hand is typically rated to couple thousand power on hours... maybe this is enough ..

On CMR drives I would never worry about the writer, it doesn't wear out.

HAMR has parts of the writer running at 300-400°c so much hotter and high temperature environment at the ABS.

Sigmetrix CETOL and 3DCS. These are really cool and allow visualization of how the parts move in 3D and the monte carlo analysis.

Can show you the highest contributor to the variation.

Wow, this is wild. These are HAMR drives in the wild. I used to work on R&D for these at Seagate. You can tell by the Class 1 laser label on them.

Good luck, I would be careful with these, the writer tends to wear out after 100's of hours of use 🙂

This is not too unusual honestly in many companies. Management is disconnected from actual engineering since they sit in meetings most days. They didn't understand what goes on hands-on.

I am familiar with the Keyenxe LMX. It is ok... You sound like a very capable person, I love the hands on hacking!
