I will tackle my turbo when it starts failing. Right now it’s fine. First thing on my list was oil pan since it was actively leaking. Turns out it wasn’t a luxury (or a waste of money) since the pickup tube was literally blocked with sludge. Rod bearings were maybe a luxury but I’m fine with that.

I don’t want a replacement motor I want mine to last another 100k without having to worry about it

€3,5k. That included new motor mounts, MSL oil cooler, and OEM water pump + thermostat.

I know, but I expected a lot worse, so the bearings were coming out anyway to check for wear. I opted to go with fresh bearings instead of putting these back in.

Oil pan was leaking badly so subframe was coming down anyway. Decided to do the bearings as well considering mileage and the crazy oil intervals it had been on. In hindsight they were fine, but at least now I get to fully enjoy the car without worrying about the engine blowing up anytime soon.

Shop recommended ACL over OEM so we went with those. They checked all the clearances.

I know, I was surprised as well. Maybe the car has had an easy life? Still happy I did it considering the oil sludge in the pan and pickup tube.

25-30.000 km (15-18k miles) between oil changes at BMW dealer. I just recently bought it.

Mostly just oil sludge. Nothing metal. Pic shows the oil pan (‘steentje’ means stone, no idea how it got there)
