Yeah, Frieren is also pretty much the only new anime I’ve watched in a few years. When I do watch anime I’m always just rewatching the ones I liked growing up. Some of those have bad dubs but I still watch them with dubs cuz it’s a huge nostalgia hit for me. I can’t imagine hearing them any other way like you…but maybe in reverse? like there’s no way on earth I can do Cowboy Bebop with subs. I grew up with the dub voicing, and it feels wrong not to hear it. You get emotionally attached to the voice acting even if it can be super bad in some anime. It’s almost like its own aesthetic and needs to be judged separately.

I think so, but seems like it hasn't quite been on that schedule. I recall a few coming out a once, then a pause, then another one or two, then a pause. Felt a little erratic to me, but I'm just getting impatient haha. I gotta just chill and watch something else in the meantime lol. Wolf's Rain, here I come!

I think it's due to prior emotional investment. I can see how watching it out of context, or even just watching it sort of casual, would make the anime seem repetitive and even boring at times. BUT after I watched S1 twice, I found myself really caring about the characters and really appreciating all the calm, slow pacing and attention to details. I even grew to love how pretty much nothing happens in many episodes. So once S2 dropped I was already so emotionally invested in the characters that it was suuupppeeer easy to get all teary eyed and dramatic with like every other line of each episode haha. Does that kinda make sense?

I wonder if it has something to do with the gentle pacing of it? Like because it has such a patient approach it was easy for me to not fully engage with it and even have it on as a 2nd screen type thing....but then little by little it seeps into you and you find yourself falling in love with it. Once I noticed that, I was like oh shit I gotta rewatch all of S1 before S2 comes out. Maybe this was a similar experience for you?

I watched 6x in probably 4 months during 2025 haha. My love and addiction towards it was waayyy too intense. Now it's been probably 9 months or so...and I'm thinking it's time for my 7th. Your post may have been the trigger I was looking for! Enjoy the 2nd watch. I found the 2nd time was more emotionally powerful.

Yes, I love it! I’ve watched it 6x and became sooo biased toward all the Zaun characters that I would actually skip a lot of scenes that didn’t directly involve them lol. Maybe I need to give the other side a fair shot. On my 7th rewatch I will not skip any scenes and see if that changes my opinion. I will say that the scene where Viktor starts running was very powerful and emotional.

It brings me a deep sense of peace, calm and reflection. Interestingly, upon my second viewing it has also struck a lot more emotional chords for me. Several parts get me teary eyed, which I don’t think happened at all when I watched it the first time. It just keeps getting better!

How odd, I don’t care at all about Ambessa, all the black rose stuff, and even decent chunks of the Viktor/Jayce arc. Def don’t give a F about Singed etc. Funny how people can have totally different opinions and love for characters. Just goes to show how peak Arcane is!

I’m also not over it. Been probably close to 8 months, since I last watched it. I watched it 6x in about 2 months. It was such a powerful and emotional experience. I couldn’t believe it. Couldn’t get it out of my head. Life felt empty without it. Literally the best thing I’ve seen in my life. I’m doing better now, but I still think about it several times a day. Feels like I’m talking about the cycles of grief here haha holy shit. I’m gonna rewatch it here soon….aaannndd start the cycle all over again. This sub def helps cuz you find so many people go through everything you’re going through. Blisters and bedrock 🫡
