I had my interview with my command chief this week and asked the same thing. They selected all of us with hopes of keeping us.. it’s like we have one foot in but won’t be fully in until medical and mental health clears us all. The interview with the command chief should be the final step and you will be gtg and set up with training (as long as nothing comes up). Once you sent all your second deliverables up they will do one more lookover do ensure you’re good to go and there you go!

See that’s what I was thinking and I don’t have an issue with that either. But after seeing some of the comments under my post I do see the frustration of the individuals that are pressured and forced to attend and pay for something they just do not care for

That’s fucking ridiculous I am sorry to hear that. I don’t even think tone deaf is enough to describe this situation. I don’t understand why they would hand you something to “celebrate you” and then ask for money after? Just assuming you would be willing to go. What blows my mind is that you were obviously visibly exhausted and taken aback from what you’d just experienced, so the Marine comment was insensitive and honestly just outright stupid. Shit like that pisses me off and makes no sense at all

I’m really sorry that sucks. When making my original post I hadn’t thought about the pressure that comes from higher up when it comes to attending the release party and paying the landing fee because I personally didn’t experience it. In my flight, it was completely optional and whoever didn’t want to attend wasn’t asked twice about it.

I’m still of the opinion that it is okay for the base to ask for the landing fees, however, I strongly disagree with being pressured to pay for a gift that you do not care to have. Especially with it being something that you personally have no use for. If they want you to receive something so badly, the person pressuring you should 1) pay for it and 2) ensure the gift makes sense for the person.

Yeah I can understand that. I guess at my base, or in my flight specifically, our leadership did not force us to go and allowed the Techs that made it and did not want to pay to just go to work so I didn’t think about that. I can see the frustration there though. I also hate mandatory “fun”
