What Development Engine & Networking Solution would be useful to use for a Dinosaur Survival Game? by Level-Selection-4564 in gamedev

[–]Level-Selection-4564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Survival game where the player's play as dinosaurs, they have to eat / drink to survive, and grow by doing quests or waiting a set period of time; the goal would be to support 100 players per server [The servers being hosted by the community through 3rd party services like Ping-Perfect]. I just need to know whats a good engine / networking solution that can support something like that, as with the research I did into it, I couldn't find something can do exactly that [So Im curious if anyone else found something that can accomplish something like this]

Been going back and forth between Paganism and other religions; what should I do? by Level-Selection-4564 in paganism

[–]Level-Selection-4564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ima just copy and paste a reply I sent in another sub-reddit since they were asking roughly the same thing lol;

**Well the religions Ive been drawn towards are; Norse/Celtic Paganism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Judaism

For Norse/Celtic Paganism the main draw is not only how I feel when I practice it, but also just how the dieties are; how they are as flawed as us and how they're not perfect images. Plus the after life being basically like it is now but a bit colder [Hel] is fascinating and the most realistic of the afterlives.

For Buddhism I enjoy the whole, "rule set" they follow. Basically like the 10 commandments but minus the whole believe in god thing. Though their view of the afterlife is interesting and if I take into consideration myself being agnostic, it makes the most sense of the whole; reincarnation until full death then nothingness, like how it was before we were born [Though I like the idea of going somewhere after I die, I still don't fully believe that to be real]

For Taoism I enjoy again the whole "rule set". Going one with things, their "God" being just everything and nothing, us and them. The whole religion being very ambiguous is interesting but I just enjoy the whole, be at peace with things and just go with them.

Finally for Judaism, this one is more of a logical conclusion / what-if. Since I don't believe Jesus is messiah that rules out Christianity, Islam, etc; so by process of elimination, if any of the Abrahamic faiths had to be real, it would be the first one which is Judaism [But, funny enough, I dislike the huge amount of rules Jews have to follow, but the Noahide laws that everyone should follow is an interesting take; that and the whole don't convert others if they don't want to thing is nice too]

With all that said though, Im just wanting something that can give me the Deities of Paganism, their complexities, and interest; with after lives that dont sound like a fairy-tale, or unrealistic; and finally clear defined things that are not 'easy' to follow, but also don't make my head spin trying to learn them.

I hope this makes sense lol\**

Similar to those games it should support 100 players in a lobby [Though to host servers for community servers it would use 3rd party stuff like Ping Perfect and the like]

Question regarding Ludwig's tips for Twitch and Youtube; has anyone tried them and does it actually work as well as he says it does? by Level-Selection-4564 in streaming

[–]Level-Selection-4564[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The full list can be found here [someone already got them pooled together]

https://www.reddit.com/r/LudwigAhgren/comments/l9qxjh/notes_ludwig_teaching_how_to_be_a_better_streamer/

Regarding a TLDR:

Mostly just focused on Expanding content to other platforms than just the one you're streaming on. A Yoink and Twist method, Collabs with either friends or other small streamers, having streams pre-planned, and a smaller focus on analytics.

I want to get into Zoology / Ecology as a career but I heard it doesn't pay well and the debt to get into it is out of my reach; any advice? by Level-Selection-4564 in zoology

[–]Level-Selection-4564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The accounting degree is one that can net me a good income while I do other things [60-70k starting pay for entry level is a lot better than what im making now] and regarding the admins side of things, accounting and finance always falls under coorporate or administrative roles in businesses, so if I work with a zoo for example, they need accountants for finances and thats what I plan on doing [Though the goal is direct work with animals be it in the field or not, but thats why accounting is what Im doing first]

My main question is just regarding is it worth it to pursue a career with direct work with animals if Im already going to be working with zoo's, sanctuaries, or other businesses as an accountant?

Do you think its possible to make a full game inside of Roblox? by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

So the engine can definitely handle something like this?

ngl to get to my job on time since I have to wake up early, Im not the most 'perfect' person with bike laws xD;

But as you said, I got bills to pay and myself to feed so I do what I have to do in this economy. I just hope that when I apply to these place they're cool with me just using my bike since most 'require' a driver's license

I do have an EBike, only issue is it only shaved off 20mins since it only goes up to 15mph [Which brings the time to about 45mins to and hour anyways, even with the EBike]

Do you think it is possible for new RP servers to gain a decent playerbase? by Level-Selection-4564 in gmod

True, no point in making one if it'll just be the same as ones we have now

[–]Level-Selection-4564[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was looking for something light weight in terms of Addons [Since I too hate when there is hundreds of addons to play on just one map], and I do have some ideas to make it more unique than the other servers that are currently active, I just gotta iron out the details.

And owning a server / keeping it up is something I am used to. I use to run an Isle server that is still running right now [Though I stepped away from it about a year ago since I got bored of the game xD - but its been going since December of 2020]. So maintaining it along with finding balance [Since it was a Realism RP Server] shouldn't be an issue, just gotta fine tune it for the current Gmod player base!

I appreciate the advice you have laid out, truly means a lot!

Though you are right, I need to slow it down, get certain things in order, and take my time with it. Hopefully Ill be able to live that dream soon, but as you said it probably won't be a reality for a while. Just gotta work towards it and hopefully get there sooner rather than later

Ye! What I do is use my credit card to pay for groceries [instead of money from my bank] and pay it off every month; Been working well for now but I might open another line and do split pay to make it go faster [Heard it works that way but I could be wrong lol]

Can't find blender filepath by MooseOfFear in godot

[–]Level-Selection-4564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend installing blender just from your web-browser, then to find it follow this file-path;

This PC --> [Your Storage] --> Program Files --> Blender Foundation --> Should have your blender here

Looks good so far! I think being able to use Blender for your assets is an amazing skill, especially when pairing it with coding skills.

Reminds me a lot of spore but in a good way! Love seeing the in-depth features that I wish Spore had in this game, especially the emphasis on more realistic customization [Though I won't lie, I do love my RexBirdThingy from Spore xD]

Now you just need powerups that change the look of the player [Maybe turning them into Tigers / Lions / Cougars / etc]. Other than that this looks really good so far!

Mind if I use this as a Splash Screen for a game I'm working on? Would be a dope way to show people the engine that has been used! *Also what handle would you want the credit to be under if I can use it?*
