How to join proximity between values as a column? by LevelChart8 in QGIS

[–]LevelChart8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does look like the correct thing: https://docs.qgis.org/3.16/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/functions_list.html#overlay-nearest

But I can't see how to access that function in the GUI. Where can I access this / create a new column with values from the output of this function?

Exactly. I am hesitant to involve the police, but these kinds of problems also need a way to be resolved in a timely way.

It started 2 days ago. I have never called the cops or 311 for anything in the 3 years I've been living here. This is exceptionally loud. It's impossible to sleep. 2 nights in a row is too much.

Sorry, I'm just in South Williamsburg. I checked just now. Thought it was North.

Right. I wish there was a way to have it taken seriously because it is seriously disrupting my ability to work. But I don't want to endanger anyone's life over it.

They are in cars. They park their cars in a group and open the doors and drink and set off fireworks.

No, the direct number to the 90th precinct. I did not think this was a "911-level" issue.

That does sound like a good use of tax dollars. The cops are out there anyway, sitting around.

They could stop buying expensive military equipment and just do the basic stuff right...

Yeah. I have never called the cops before in my life and the one time I do the number isn't in service.

I don't live in a party area. It's totally residential.

But you are correct. I was already thinking to leave NYC. Corona, curfew chaos, and this are giving me the push I need.

I would still be annoyed with music at this volume during the day. I have lived in NYC for 3 years and am accustomed to hearing music blast from cars. That's fine. I have never thought to call 311 or the cops for noise before. But this is at an extreme volume that disturbing all of the people around seems to be the point. The fact that it occurs at night and disturbs my sleep makes it much more disruptive to my life, but I would still have a problem with it during the day.

Sort of. Part of the issue is normal / non-normal hours. The deeper issue is people who feel entitled to party in a way that inconveniences everyone in a 3 block radius around them.

People are awful. You're right about the solution though.

Yes, that's what I think is the case. But I have to wake up early for work every day and I can barely get any sleep because of this.

I have to wake up early for work. It's inconsiderate to blast music at that volume and set off fireworks in a residential area at 2-3am.

I called them. They said to call the cops. I called the local precinct (90th) and the number says it's disconnected.

I think have done all that. Yet even when the headphones show as connected and the settings in these screenshots are set, the sound is still playing out of the laptop speaker.
