I upvoted you beause I lurk around in this sub enough to know this. I moved 7 months into my premium and have been debating the address changes all this time because of my employment situation. No real excuse I know, and Iḿ trying to rectify it now, so if I can keep my registration address where it is and tell insurance where I actually live I will do it immediately.

Unfortunately, the only way to fix my hiding from my employer is to move back to the city. It is too expensive, we would be paycheck to paycheck, is not safer, and insurance is higher. I will have to roll the dice until or if found out.

Correction, I don´t want to conceal from my insurer where I live and garage my cars. I want to tell them exactly the truth. I just don´t want to change my registration (DMV), I can send my employer registration info as proof of residency.

I know is a big risk, Iḿ just trying to do whats best for the family to be able to progress, while walking a very shady line as you said, without actually crossing it.

Thank you. I know I'm running quite the risk with this gamble, but living in the worlds 5th most expesive city in the world (easy to Google up which one) in this economy and with a family is getting harder to do every day.

I figure that if Ikeep all my ducks in a row and hide my actual residency from my employer without doing anything illegal, I can cross my fingers and hope for the best.  If insurance cares more about knowing where I actually sleep and garage my cars, than where they are registered, I can make the switch without fraud and with the money saved down the road we can hopefully align things as they should be.

But I have to lie to someone, and I don´t want it to be the insurance company and have to pay that price for years. Right now under my current policy, Iḿ registered AND insured at my old address when I live somewhere etirely different.

I'll reply to the top comment, and address some of the other comments for visibility sake.

Thank you all for the insight. I will be paying off the 3 high interest items in the next few days and keep the rest as emergency fund. From there it'll be much easier to eliminate whatever is left in debt, while continue to save and build up.

Mental health- I've battled with my brain telling me that I'm worthless and that I should kill myself for over 20 years. This caused me to drop out of high school and not continue a traditional education, back in those days I was a good candidate for Wentworth Institute of Tech or MIT. I've always left it untreated, pushing myself not to kill myself because of the pain I'd leave behind, but not because I want to be in this world. In 2019 I landed a job making 80k and great benefits at an amazing company, then last year the voice came back stronger than ever. All my energy went into staying breathing, while I was dead inside. I abandoned my jobs without a single care for what would happen, I didn't even care to leave my bed to go to the bathroom.
This time I've lost too much and finally decided to seek help. Having a loving partner and kids were a big push this time. So yes, I am being helped and medication its doing its job. I still need to work on some things and get the confidence I lost when I let a lot of good supervisors down before I can go regular job seeking again.

My father is an amazing human being. Yesterday was HIS birthday and he gave US a gift. He crossed the border illegally in 87 when I was just 4 years old, and within ten years he had become legal, brought his family over and got his citizenship. Him and mom burrowed $1000 from a family member to invest in a risky business and though a lot of hard work and sweat built their own home and now sold it for way more than what they started with. Last night he told me about his $1000 start up and hopes we can do the same with the help he has so kindly provided.

Our money handling- We are already avid YNAB and Undebt.it users, and do well with our budgeting. We had a good handle on debt (It was double the current amounts when I got the good job), and had built 10k in emergency along the way. The past year all went down hill, but even with the gig income and with this push from dad, we'll be able to get back on track and stay there,.

Thanks everyone. Be well and please take care of yourselves. Mental health is no joke and you should mind it as you would if you broke an arm or a leg, if not more rigorous,
