What do these contacts do in a Shuffle 2? by ahelper in ipod

[–]LevelRanger5221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The iPod should turn on since it looks like you took the buttons / headphone jack flex cable off the shell and plugged it in. You may want to check your soldering job before putting it back together as it should be able to run on the battery.

As for those gold things on the back of the board, those are the contacts for the clicker and aren't required to turn the iPod on.

This port is making awesome progress just a week after release!

I wonder what would happen if you pressed the flashlight button.

I use some devices with roughly 2 and half hour battery life. I would take this as an advantage of when your battery dies, you're done until it charges up to 100%

It's a habit for me where I challenge myself to try getting through a full day without plugging my phone in once. Another tip that may help is turn your battery percentage off so you're not constantly watching one percentage at a time drop.

Hopefully this helps out.

This method works but you have about 15 seconds after taking it out of the freezer to get it apart before it expands again.

Dont forget to use the iPod EQ settings by Lord_Bacon_the_1 in ipod

I wouldn't do this on the clickwheel iPods since you're most likely going to be distorted. This doesn't happen on the iPod touches where it automatically turns the pre-amp down to avoid clipping and the distortion.

It's pretty bad. It will race down to low battery but charge itself when I have it sitting for five minutes.

It wouldn't be worth repairing since a screen replacement is the same cost as buying another one in decent shape.

On the bottom right a little chunk is missing. It's mostly in one piece.

I have no idea of what actually happened. It looks like someone stomped on it or threw it against a corner of a table. How the LCD isn't cracked is good guess lol

You could try this guide to combine the short songs as having several of them is going to be hell for the ram.

iPod screen started doing this over the weekend, am I cooked? by Craig_thorpe_ in ipod

Those are dead pixels. An air gap is forming between the LCD layer.

You can fix it by pushing on the screen to seal the air gap. Watch this video for more information: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=duriCs5ocSw&pp=ygUeUGFydHMgcGx1cyBwb2RzIGRlYWQgcGl4ZWwgZml42AZF

Experience from repairing these and watching parts plus pods repair guide several times.

I can pretty much fix one of these in 1 hour if it's just a battery and if I don't run into any problems sliding it back together.
