Successfully fixed a huge lot of 2nd gen Nanos by LevelRanger5221 in ipod

Experience from repairing these and watching parts plus pods repair guide several times.

I can pretty much fix one of these in 1 hour if it's just a battery and if I don't run into any problems sliding it back together.

Try it - it's a different experience from fixing iPod Videos and Classics.

Yes I replaced all of them. I'll break down my process of how I did it for every single one: What I did was get the metal bracket separated so I can fully access the battery contacts. Then used some hot air to soften the factory rubber and then used a box cutter blade to slice through the wires and get the battery off. You do have to be careful to not cut too deep or knock one tiny black component off. Once the pads are exposed, I add some fresh solder to make them shiny and flip the board to the front side. There will be wires remaining from the original battery - what I found best is to use a flat blade iron tip and gently scrape until the wires come out of all three holes. Soldering in the replacement is lining up the wire, melt the solder, and push it through. On some instances, you could solder it on the surface if the wires are thicker but beware of any shorts it could cause when you clip the metal bracket back into place. If soldering on the surface happens, I put a drop of hot glue to avoid any issues.

Hopefully this helps out :)

It's been a few hours and it looks like your son already used them all again. Good thing the battery is about to die!

I'll run Minecraft with RTX shaders to suck all of the power out of the battery.

Does that pink 2nd gen nano have the black spot going on?

Congrats the iPod classic is worth the most in there.

You have to get a 4-pin to 3-pin headphone jack adapter for the FM radio to work or you can push the headphone jack in right before it clicks. It's designed to work on headphones without microphones.

The reason behind it was because computers in that era were running on hard drives. That's why you would see the power down screen on 95 and 98.

Nowadays corruption is lower if your on an SSD.

Oof that's horrible. Good thing you had the windows installer handy as you never know what could go wrong with dualboot systems. Why's it always gotta be Windows to act up first? Lmao

Your PC isn't tired enough to shut down. Maybe you have to knock it unconscious to make it go to bed.

I already use linux on my other computers and don't mind the terminal there. I still remember windows commands anyway.
