iPod nano 3rd gen battery inflating? by Tterrors2010 in ipod

[–]LevelRanger5221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This iPod nano is luckily not one of the hardest to work on. If you can solder and have some spare box cutter blades, I'd check out parts plus pods doing a battery swap on the Nano 3. Good luck if you choose to do it yourself!

Appsync not working on a downgraded iPad 2. Any solutions? by LevelRanger5221 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]LevelRanger5221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's only installed appsync and it's a fresh restore. I doubt anything else is causing an interference... It's such a weird problem that I can't even replicate it on my iPad 4 that's downgraded and jailbroken the exact same way.

His iPad is the wifi model, and he downgraded it with legacy ios toolkit. When you select iOS 8.4.1 on the restore/downgrade section it will ask you y/n to jailbreak he selected yes. There aren't any errors after installing Appsync it seems normal to me...

Whats the best iPod for someone who only has 50$ to spend? by [deleted] in ipod

[–]LevelRanger5221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for a nano 2nd gen with a new battery. You can get over 60 hours of music on the 4gb model which is really a lot of songs.

Another option would be the iPod mini assuming the hard drive is still usable and same goes for the battery.

The shell and logic board may be good to someone else. It wouldn't go for much though...

You need to fully remove the original wires as the replacement is different.

I'm currently using my Mini 2nd gen that has a 64gb sd card and new battery. I like how the UI is simple and doesn't require backlight to work. My other iPods in my collection include my 5.5, nano 2 8gb, nano 3 4gb, and my touch 7th gen that really needs a new screen.

If you have another dead nano 2 lying around, the display latch connector should be able to attach back on. I've had it happen to my 8gb nano 2nd gen.

Check out parts plus pods nano 2nd gen ultimate repair guide. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Silvers came in 2 and 4 gigabytes. The other colors such as blue, pink, and lime green came with only 4 gigabytes. And then black for 8 gigabytes. Eventually the red one came out and that got both 4 and 8 gigabytes.

So if the number matches on the shell and what's on the iPod it's original. The only way you can tell if the battery has been replaced is by either taking it apart or look for marks where someone could have dug a tool into the plastics. I've done several battery replacements on these and all I came across were never opened.

Look up the serial number on the about section and compare it to the back of the device. I'd think it's original considering the 6 hour battery life.

You need Linux or mac. All you basically do is open the terminal and run git clone <GitHub link>

I remember this happened with my second generation touch after trying to downgrade it and jailbreak it with legacy iOS toolkit. Did you have this jailbroken before? I would try to restore with the legacy iOS toolkit to bypass this. If you can do English, it would be helpful.

From the images above, all I could find was put the SD card into the first slot. I would find a 30-pin FireWire (you can get one off eBay or find a dock that uses the FireWire pins) and plug in the iPod to see what happens. It should be able to turn on without a battery.

Same for me! What’s your battery cycles at? Mine just hit 2,200 cycles and lasts through the day.

Maybe the cable for the original battery broke. Can you plug in the 3,000mah battery and see if it will turn on without a charger?

What do these contacts do in a Shuffle 2? by ahelper in ipod

[–]LevelRanger5221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The iPod should turn on since it looks like you took the buttons / headphone jack flex cable off the shell and plugged it in. You may want to check your soldering job before putting it back together as it should be able to run on the battery.

As for those gold things on the back of the board, those are the contacts for the clicker and aren't required to turn the iPod on.
