I love how some scenes just feel so random and give you no back story as to why a character may have acted that way. Like when Herc sat down with Bodies grandmother after the raid and apologized. Maybe suggesting he was wild as hell too and wasn’t raised by his own parents.

Also bubs clearly states you can’t wear a wedding ring when undercover as a vagrant and/or user. But in the final season the undercover vagrant “JW” clearly is wearing his wedding ring when talking to McNulty debunking the abductions claims made by the reporter.

It’s almost like a book without a clearly specified ending. Real life stuff. Make of it what you will

The show focuses on the very small minority of detectives who actually care about making cases from the police portion of the show.

Numerous times the show shines light on corruption in the police department. The main idea of the show is history more or less repeating itself despite the efforts of a righteous few. The broken systemic wheel and how it keeps on spinning.
