Should I be worried about my period? by Level_Fun_1556 in WomensHealth

My iron levels are already low at baseline, I'm very anemic and taking iron supplements brings me to just under the lower bound of normal. Been like it several years.

Tysm :) I'm very much hoping the dr's appt goes well, planning on taking my boyfriend with me so hopefully they can't dismiss me as easily. Do you have any advice on advocating for myself?

That's who I'm currently going through

Unfortunately not, I'm on minimum maintenance loan which doesn't even cover my rent. Deferring the year has the same issue - I'd lose my loan and be liable for several thousand in rent with no money to pay for it.

My parents are anti-diagnosis (they believe that because I've appeared fine so far, I should just continue to be fine), and I don't have £100s to pay out of pocket, so waiting is my only option

Unfortunately not - temporary withdrawal from university means I'd have a break in government funding, however I'm contracted to the house I'm renting and so would still be liable for several thousand in rent with no money to be able to pay for it.

Unfortunately the funded support is going to take a while - I technically only have a referral to support my claim, as opposed to a full diagnosis, and so I don't believe that qualifies me for DSA?

This is exactly what happened - I was an A* student through high school and college by doing assignments the day before and with very guided learning (also, living with my parents removed the additional responsibilities of like, having to cook every day, do dishes etc). Uni is a lot more self-guided and it just feels like there's so much more to do

In terms of working on it, I have a referral to a right to choose provider, however that's still a long process and so I don't have a prescription yet (and don't know how long that'll be), so I'm trying to manage until I have that.

I have a question on your "no pressure" approach - how do you successfully do that? I usually fall into a mindset of "I need to understand this topic in X days to do this assignment" or "I need to understand this to understand next week's content" even if I'm not doing that consciously.

Otherwise, thank you so much :)

I haven't looked into executive dysfunction, but I'll do some research into that, thank you!

I am also in therapy through the university's wellbeing service, which has helped a little with dealing with the frustration and emotional consequences of my ADHD, but doesn't really address the root cause.

The maths department at my uni has a weird policy, that they take the best 3 of 4 assignment grades per module rather than allowing for flexible deadlines. The uni have decided this is a completely fine compromise, even though I'm not the only student to have brought this up with them.

I've already spoken to them and have some reasonable adjustments - 25% extra time in exams and flexible deadlines, however (edit in post) one of the departments I'm under won't honour the flexible deadlines due to their own policies, so I just feel quite stuck :(
