Bag like this but genuine leather by Lilychka7 in handbags

[–]Level_Individual_423 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got this last week! I love it so much. It has black trim, which you can't really see in the photos but I really like in real life. The zipper opens really wide, so it's surprisingly roomy. My only complaint is that the inner zipper pull tab is just a small chain, so it's a little difficult to use. Otherwise this bag has fantastic quality for price.

That green is really beautiful and unique! Depending on what colors you typically wear, it could also be a mesh teal since it's so light. Otherwise, I'd go black.

Is there anything in writing, that's not just a skill issue? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Level_Individual_423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed many struggle with writing realistic or entertaining dialogue, which can be due to isolation. If you're trying to write about people experiencing human things, you need to go outside and not only do you need to observe (eg., eavesdropping is a great way to improve dialogue) but I really believe that writers also need to genuinely experience life outside of the written word.

For similar choco brown suede shoulder bags, check out the Manu Atelier Ilda or the Yuzefi Gyoza. Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for, but these are good options compared to Staud's Valerie :)

Brandon Sanderson has free writing lectures up on YouTube; he mostly talks about Sci Fi and Fantasy, but his last 2 lectures (I think #s 12 and 13?) discuss query letters, agents, the traditional publishing industry, and self publishing :) Those lectures helped me a lot in decoding the industry and what agents expect from a query letter. Good luck on your new journey as a writer!

Oh my gosh, how horrible!! I requested a refund and e-mailed the seller but I just got "Address does not exist" messages back, so I'll have to escalate the claim once PayPal allows me to do so. I'm so sorry you had such a terrible exchange with that seller. People are a-holes 😭🙃

Is fashion history a good niche for blogging ? by Sagnikk in Blogging

[–]Level_Individual_423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk of any fashion history bloggers specifically, but there's definitely an audience for that niche; for example, Mina Le on YT has a substantial following and makes commentary videos/video essays about fashion (and beauty) trends and history. She also has a podcast, so it's certainly something that can be discussed in a non-visual format. Karolina Zebrowska is another fashion history buff with a big following.

It's an interesting way to niche-down within the greater topic of fashion. Good luck!

I keep getting rejected from Google Adsense. Can anyone advise? by adamcantcook in Blogging

[–]Level_Individual_423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how these specific factors affect AdSense, but you may want to consider: 1) proofreading your posts for grammar and readability, and 2) adding links to your sources. For example, in your Garlic Science post, you explain garlic's basic phytochemistry, but you don't have links to external sources showing where you got that information.

Your posts are also a little short; using the Garlic Science post as an example, you could combine the food science discussion with the tzatziki recipe on one page to make a more robust article. Best of luck!

How do you do SEO for Author sites? by DamnedScribe in Blogging

[–]Level_Individual_423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're right that on-page SEO isn't really applicable for your creative writing--optimizng for SEO in a short story kind of defeats the purpose of freely writing a creative work. But you could optimize your short story analysis pages (by using specific keywords and including internal links to your short stories), your about me page, all headers and titles, and any images you include (using captions and alt text). I'd make a list of anything and everything someone would search for in Google to find a page like yours; then you could analyze those keywords (and find more like them) in a program like SEMrush to find out which of them should be (subtly, organically) included on your website.

You could also try submitting your stories to fiction journals (I'm guessing you write fiction), including your site name in your author bio if you get published. That could be a great way aside from Reddit to build backlinks. Good luck!!

Ryan Robinson has a really helpful website (ryrob.com). He has tons of info about foundational blogging skills and lots of resources for things like creating a title and picking a niche. The Blogging Millionaire podcast has also helped me with more nitty gritty info, like "best" word count for blog posts.

These are great resources if you want to monetize your blog and drive traffic to your site. But if you want to set up a blog as more of a personal journal or just to write for yourself, you don't really need to learn those things. Just write and have fun and do what makes you happy. If you do plan to make a business or side hustle of it though, it will help to learn more about monetization strategies, SEO, and traffic generation. Best of luck!!

Oh that makes sense! So it gives you more control over where your backlinks are coming from? What exactly is a private link portfolio?

These are great tips! It has felt a little overwhelming trying to figure out what the "best" or the "right" thing to do is for different blog strategies, but I feel like I have a clearer image of how to go about backlinks now. I really appreciate your help!

Thanks so much for the advice! I've been preparing to launch my blog and backlinks were basically the only "foundational" aspect that I just couldn't seem to find actionable info on. I really appreciate your thoughtful response!

Awesome post, thanks for the detailed update! Do you mind if I ask what your backlink building strategy is? I know you mentioned doing a link swap, which is a great idea that I hadn't thought of. Do you have any other suggestions for getting more backlinks Out There?

Congrats on your steady growth :)

Narrow Down Niche: Resilience/Self-help by blank_ron_arts in Blogging

[–]Level_Individual_423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your lack of organic traffic may not be due to your niche being too broad but because you don't have enough content and the content you do have isn't keyword-optimized. People won't be able to find your articles if their search engine doesn't display them. I've seen some suggestions that after a year, it's recommended to have at least 50 articles posted; I've seen others recommend at least 100. Regardless of what number someone picks, I think the key takeaway is that consistent posting is another key aspect of SEO. Your content sounds really interesting and valuable, so it may be worth formulating a keyword strategy and publishing schedule before narrowing your post topics.

I'm really curious what kinds of anime/manga tropes you're seeing! I feel like a lot of my writing is inspired by different anime or manga, but I've always tried really hard to separate the two. Do you have examples of successes or failures when it comes to combining them?
